When I first started college, everyone said, “Enjoy it because these four years will go by super fast”. Now that I am on the other side, I can say they were so right. As difficult as they were, my undergrad years flew by! However, I am incredibly thankful for these years, the good and the bad, but especially the bad.
The hardships taught me to be resilient, strong, and dedicated. Knowing how many times I wanted to give up, makes me appreciate how far I have come, and excited for the future.
This for my parents, for sacrificing so much for my siblings and I. For my siblings, for setting an example and allowing me to learn from their mistakes. For my nephews, for pushing me to start setting my own examples for them. Ultimately, for the babies I will advocate for and the families that I will work with moving forward. All in all, I could not have done it without God, his strength and his love was light in the middle of the darkness.

Cuando comencé la universidad, todos decían: “disfrútala porque estos cuatro años pasarán súper rápido”. Ahora que estoy del otro lado, puedo decir que tenían toda la razón. Por más difíciles que fueron, estos años se fueron volando! Sin embargo, estoy increíblemente agradecida por estos años, por lo bueno y por lo malo, pero especialmente por lo malo.
Las dificultades me enseñaron a ser resiliente, fuerte y dedicada. Saber cuántas veces quise rendirme me hace apreciar lo lejos que he llegado y me emociona por el futuro.
Esto es para mis padres, por sacrificar tanto por mis hermanos y por mí. Para mis hermanos, por darme el ejemplo y permitirme aprender de sus errores. Para mis sobrinos, por impulsarme a comenzar a dar mis propios ejemplos para ellos. Y, por ultimo, para los niños los cuales voy a defender y las familias con las que trabajaré en el futuro.
En fin, no podría haberlo logrado sin Dios; su fuerza y su amor fueron luz en medio de la oscuridad. taken in UConn by @deniirose_
