Happy Spring!! Time to be reborn and blossom🌸🌷🌺🪷🐱🌿🌼🌱The past few months have been unbearable. Constantly surveilled, harassed, followed, violated, groped, assaulted. Enduring a seemingly never-ending hell of objectification. The relentless declarations of “love” from a stalker who sets you on a pedestal only to defile you in their mind. The feeling of panic overcoming my body as I politely nod, provide a tight lipped smile, and attempt to walk away— and being grabbed against my will at a grocery store anyway. A thing to be had or experienced, not a person to be respected or cherished. My nervous laughter mistaken for invitation once again. Never ceasing news-cycle of death and destruction. The fear of walking in the daylight. The decision to do it every day anyway and the inability to feel safe while doing so. The feeling of being unsafe in the world while simply existing, and those same feeling permeating the interior of my mind. Nowhere to rest or feel safe. Not in a park where I try to read my book as a man takes indiscrete photos of me as I lay, not in line waiting to order my drink as my ass gets slapped, not in the bathroom as a man grabs my breasts as I wash my hands, not as a I get followed riding the bus on my way home, not in my backyard as a man gawks and shouts at me from his balcony, not at a restaurant where a man glides his hand down my dress twice as he walks by and I’m having dinner, not in my bed as my mind attempts to wrestle with the fact that these all happened in the span of 3 weeks. I think something died inside me this time. But here we are anyway. Springtime and the promise of sunshine and blooms all around. I get to get up and try again despite the horrors because I am surrounded by love. Love and rage are beautiful transformational things both of which I hope to express more often when needed. by @deniscepalacios
