As we crumbled into bed last night this photo, this song (Long Haul) and this verse (Isaiah 43:19) stood vividly before me!!!!

Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert. Isaiah 43:19 KJV

💙There is so much unknown in our lives as we continue to ‘bushwhack’ our way through the wilderness, but time and time again God makes way!! Ultimately, it is His Way! Fortunately! As we ride into year 42 and a much different life than we had envisioned, we are finding more and more peace and clarity in His way. It is truly something to celebrate, ya know!🙏

🖤CLEAN SLATE🖤

🖤We are trying desperately to do just that, and having this place cleaned up in exponential fashion has helped tremendously! It has given us a clean slate….an empty canvas, if you will, to start anew! #grateful

Vinnie has lived a lifetime as a Rancher. A Cattleman. It’s who he is. It’s what he loves. As he says, “Bubby, it’s what I’m good at!” That has been shattered! But…..BUT, he has this blank canvas to paint a beautiful life full of his favorite colors of blue, embracing all that he holds most dear, and doing it all in ineffable fashion!

As his wife of 41 years, I do believe in Vinnie. I DO BELIEVE IN HIS LEGACY!

Yes, our family has been trudging through this ineffable darkness, but I choose to also believe: “The darkest part of your story gave birth to the strongest part of your soul.” ~unknown

🤠WHAT?! I made the cover of the Montana Outdoors, FWP’s May/June 2024 Edition, and I didn’t even know it was gonna happen! There was really no reason or chance for this to happen, other than because of a very talented professional photographer and dear friend, Stephen Simpson!!

(Backstory: Steve has been coming up to our place since 2017, hanging out, taking pictures and enjoying Montana. We originally met when he was contracted to cover a number of Montana natural resource success stories for NRCS. Well, our Deep Creek Watershed Restoration project was one such highlight- and this is where Steve and I began an endearing friendship! (🥹I have so much to thank him for- goodness.)😭 #heartfelttears

A couple of years ago Steve (along with his sister) wanted to brave the harsh winter and experience calving at the ranch- we had no idea it would be our final calving season💔 (thank goodness he came🙏).

As always, Steve submitted some of the photos to Getty Images. Well, someone found this picture and thought it would be a good fit for this particular edition of the Montana Outdoors, which was filled with all things agriculture!!!

🤠tbh: I’ve never had aspirations of being on a cover of a magazine, but BOY HOWDY, if it ever were to happen, what better way than as a REDNECK COVERGIRL!!!🤠🙌#honored

There’s something pretty special about watching him at 63, working his own cattle, wrangling the rough stock, ranching, and doing what he was born to do.

Life has a way of reminding us that dreams are worth holding onto, that grit and faith will carry us through some pretty tough seasons, and that the people who walk beside us can make all the difference in the world.

Here’s to good cattle, great friends, dreams worth chasing, and the chapters still waiting to be written.

Jules didn’t just pick apples that day. She grew a little braver.

She was afraid of heights. But with a little encouragement, she climbed that ladder anyway.

And somewhere between the ground and those apples, she discovered a little more of what she’s capable of.

That’s the beauty of growing up around agriculture.

It’s not just about the harvest. It’s about learning to try, overcoming fears, working hard, and discovering your own strength.

Because some of the most important things we grow aren’t crops at all.

Happy National Farmers Day to the farmers and ranchers who not only feed the world but help raise the next generation. 🌾🤍

Wendell Berry died yesterday at 92.

Few voices understood so deeply that the health of a people is tied to the health of the land, the communities we build, the work of our hands, and what we choose to preserve.

For those of us who still live close to the land, his words hit differently.

May we never become so modern that we forget what is worth keeping.

Rest well, Mr. Berry. Your words remain.

Some friendships are for a season… and some are a gift that lasts a lifetime. 🤍

Yesterday I got to spend the day at the lake with two lifelong friends — the kind who have walked beside you through different chapters of life, shared the laughter, weathered the hard days, and somehow the years just make the friendship more precious.

What a blessing it is to have people in your life who have known so many versions of you — and are still there. ❤️

God knew exactly what He was doing when He gave us friends to walk this life with.
