St Xavier’s Signatures Box (40” x 40”)

Over 200 hand cut original signatures some dating back to the 1800s in a design based on a 1907 math puzzle. Created in honor of 16th-century Jesuit priest Francis Xavier-the first missionary to Asia-who died with the signatures of his friends cut from their letters and worn around his neck, close to his heart.

On exhibit in Fresh Ideas 2024 at Lewisville Grand Theater from September 21 - October 19.

Opening Reception Saturday Sept 21 7-9pm

Based in Richardson, Denise Lindgren creates collages and assemblages that explore how individual stories become part of something larger.

Her art journey started early, and not smoothly. At age nine, she was dismissed from art class in her small North Carolina town for painting her first abstract piece, which didn’t go over well in the 1960s.

She pursued other paths for years before returning to an art practice in the 1990s, this time centered on experimentation and exploration, no permission needed.

Since then, she has participated in numerous juried group exhibitions, held her first solo exhibition in 2025, and earned recognition as a Signature Member of the National Association of Women Artists (NAWA).

Honored to have Hometown Dream selected for the current exhibition at the ArtCentre of Plano through Nov 15. This piece includes original vintage materials like linen postcards, cuttings from a Scantron sheet, computer sysout and Monopoly money.
