I got really really really into splitboards / skinning up the mtn last year. (splitboard = snowboard that turns into skis so you can hike uphill). Like I think I went up 35+ times … sunrise, sunset, nighttime, midnight … and tried to drag as many diff people with me as I could. It introduced me to a whole diff way of using the mountain on a whole diff timetable (7am sunrise!) and schedule (… make it back in time to make the kids breakfast and take em to ski school). As summer is winding down I’m already getting fired up for this. BTW there is def a straight line between “rediscovering” skiing thru hiking the mtn at sunrise/midnight and getting amped up about biking again (these night rides on gravel). Shoutout to any of the folks who made it up with me this winter — @katieccollins @chelsa @willmcd @xtianbovine And these nighttime ski photos under the stars…. right???!!! (ps one of these pics is Tucks @ Mt Washington… gonna try to make that a yearly thing too) by @dens

Mars and I went on a bikepacking adventure (!!). We loaded our bikes with gear, rode 10mi on the rail trail, set up camp, and rode 10mi back the next day. It was amazing. Sunset Monopoly Deal, sunrise Monopoly Deal, riding in pitch dark, trail mix breaks and graham crackers that broke into 1000 pieces. This is one of coolest things we’ve done — when’s the next one?! (he carried the sleeping pads + his cardboard box of cords/wires — I had the tent, sleeping bags, food and cooking gear, clothes and 3L of water) by @dens

The USA played in five games in this 2026 World Cup. We rocked the Abe Lincoln’s for all of them — including USA 🇺🇸 vs BOS 🇧🇦 in San Francisco (8 of us made the trek for that game!). Btw we’ve doing the Abe thing since … 2010? Brazil, Kansas City, friendlys, qualifiers, friends weddings, you name it, we’ll Abe-up for it. Last video is the @americanoutlaws dance party in SF stadium after the USA’s R32 win (so so so glad I was able to take Via to that game!) by @dens

Took Mars “blue car camping” last weekend. We booked a campsite near Mohonk so we’d have easy access to the gravel bike trails. My rule with the kids = “we can go camping, but the next day we’re gonna wake up and go on an adventure”. So far the kids like the camping more than the adventures 🤣 by @dens

It’s been so long since I posted to the grid, it took me a minute to figure out how to do it! (IG has really gone to shit). Anyway her bday isn’t till July but that doesn’t stop her from asking about it every day (“is it my birthday yet??”). She is a hilarious handful of a kid that tests every nugget of parenting skill we’ve acquired thru the other two. She regularly wakes me up at 5am to ask questions about obscure Star Wars characters. She is the keeper of a parliament of stuffed owls (I had to ChatGPT that btw), one of which we just had FedEx’d back from the Dominican Republic after it was marooned at the beach. This pic sums up her energy perfectly - posting it and then rushing into the next room to separate her and Mars from arguing over cat toys. 🤷🏻‍♂️ by @dens

I think of this photo of Mars standing in front of one of @danielarsham’s paintings all the time (2 years ago / Sept 2023) so figured I’d just post it here. by @dens

New activity unlocked: hiking up (snow shoes!) + riding down. Mornings, sunset, and even late nights on a full moon 🌕 by @dens

Turns out V (8yo) is a badass in the moguls. She skis with confidence and style and it makes me so proud I could cry. (this is after 2 seasons of Mount Snow’s “Devo” ski program btw). by @dens

6am hike up @MountSnow this past weekend. @jkottke suggested I set it to music — this seems appropriately nostalgic. Riding @HovlandSnowskates Buckshot and shot with 360 cam (I’m holding the cam on the stick and the AI edits it out! 🤯 by @dens

Early morning laps on Sunbrook @ @MountSnow … back in January? (it had just snowed and we had this side of the mtn to ourselves for like 4 runs). Riding @HovlandSnowskates Buckshot btw. (🎥 @katieccollins) by @dens

Mars being Mars. Buried in the filthy city sand at that beach near Little Island 😂 by @dens

I went looking for this photo of Sammy at 1yo and couldn’t find it, so here it is! 1yo vs 3yo. Same energy, more hair. by @dens
