AGAINST REPRESSION OF RAVE CULTUREThe French Parliament has pushed forward measures to strengthen the repression of RAVE / free parties and rave culture. The proposal has now been approved by the Assemblée Nationale.As for the latest developments, the situation is indeed serious. The French National Assembly has initiated and approved committee measures aimed at strengthening sanctions against unauthorized raves and free parties.Among the proposals being discussed are:- up to 6 months in prison and a €5,000 fine for anyone considered to be involved in the organization of an event;- confiscation of audio equipment and sound systems;- fines for participants as well;- a very broad definition of “organization,” which could include those who transport equipment, share information about an event, or provide logistical support.The French government is advancing the so-called “Riposte” bill, which aims to further intensify the repression of free parties and has already sparked demonstrations and mobilizations in several French cities.
