It has been a hectic sports photography season with the Maryland Senior Olympics, and there’s still more to come in September and October. Here’s a few samples of the action… by @dentuttle

I kinda-sorta-not really have a k-a-t. Two months ago, I spotted a lanky, filthy, scrawny, confused and frightened k-a-t in the woods next to the house. She was abandoned, I’m sure, but now she has acclimated to the surroundings and turned out to be a pretty critter. She’s still skittish and frightened, but I leave food on the step and sometimes she allows me to pet her. This video covers a month of clips. I named her Kat the K-a-t. She could care less. “Where’s the grub, bub?” by @dentuttle

Fireworks from Gettysburg on America’s 250th birthday. My first time photographing fireworks. I had no idea what I was doing, but a memorable learning experience. Pretty sure the last image is a bunch of battlefield ghosts having their jollies. by @dentuttle

By work coincidence, another amazing stop on the cheesesteak tour, this time in a tiny rural town on the Maryland/Pennsylvania border called @theoriginalrockyspizzacascade. I heard about this place through social media gossip and drove 22 miles out of the way for the gluttony. Worth it. by @dentuttle

Cheesesteak gluttons around the District, Maryland and Virginia have been saying @sokobutcher in Takoma Park has the best sammich. So my buddy Samu came along for the taste test, and we were awed. Each steak is a foot wide and loaded at around 18 ounces. Price: $17.95, and worth every penny. by @dentuttle

Had a super time shooting @the19thstreetband show June 9 at Brookside Gardens. Over 800 squeezed on the lawn for this popular Gypsy-rock group from Frederick. Check ‘em out! by @dentuttle

As a birthrighted member of the Piedmont North Carolina Union of Toasted Hot Dog Preservationists, I can tell you with prejudice there is no ef'ing thing as a Carolina Dog Sauce. It's like those yanks who advertise their Carolina Barbecue when there's no ef'ing thing either.

So, who are these people pawning Carolina Dog Sauce? Interlopers, no doubt. Made in the Midwest (Chicago), they have created a double-smoked all-beef dog made with brisket (Texas) and mixed up some vinegar, hot sauce and mustard, and named it something (Carolina) that it's not. Even the South Carolinians aren't this stupit, and those dopes put mustard sauce on their pulled pork!

Anyway, this condiment is $10 a bottle (DOA) but on sale at Harris Teeter. The Piedmont North Carolina Union of Toasted Hot Dog Preservationists will not stand for this mendacity. Our toasted hot dogs are slaw, mustard, chili and onions. No ketchup, no mayo, no relish, no maters, no pickles, no intolerances. There's a call to the union to picket the Charlotte distributor (traitors) of this latest nonsense. by @dentuttle

After a long, cold, snowy winter, my old #peony bush has survived. I covered it with leaves during the winter and dodged a recent late frost. Here’s the first of around 16 bulbs to see light. I had only 11 bulbs last year. by @dentuttle

Dropped by this 1939 Cheverly, Md., tudor I bought in 1995 and sold in 2003. The guy who bought it is still there and has maintained my meticulous lawn and shrubs. First time I’ve been by there in 18 years. Loved this place. by @dentuttle

Four days after the storm, the county finally got around to plowing my street. This happens every time there’s a big snow event. No one can enter or escape. Notice the large snow and ice pile. It’s about 8 feet high. It will still be there on Easter Sunday. by @dentuttle

A year ago today, I was in #Gettysburg to photograph this old hickory tree in a valley pasture on East Confederate Avenue. It was 25 degrees with 5 inches of frozen snow on the ground. It was colder than a hair on a polar bear’s ass. A young jogger went by in a t-shirt and shorts, while his dog wore a sweater. taken in Gettysburg National Military Park by @dentuttle
