Advancing liberation and systemic change through organized community power.

POSTS STORIES REELS

Today, Denver community organizations and advocates sent a letter to Mayor Mike Johnston addressing dangerous and harmful policy changes implemented by the Denver Police and Sheriff Departments, despite the departments receiving significant opposition from the community, the Office of the Independent Monitor, and the Citizen Oversight Board.

Community is demanding that Denver stop undermining the civilian oversight system that voters fought to build. We urge Mayor Johnston to bring the OIM, COB, public safety agencies, City Council members, subject matter experts, labor representatives, civil rights advocates, residents, and community organizations together to transparently address the failures within Denver’s public safety system.

We urge community to join us in advocating for independent civilian oversight of law enforcement to be upheld and strengthened!

On April 16th, Denver Police officers wearing plain clothes, tactile gear, and masks were conducting operations in Five Points. Denver Municipal Code Section 28-302 prohibits DPD officers from wearing facial coverings.

Denver Police officers should not be indistinguishable from ICE agents. This creates fear and confusion, and erodes community trust. Trust depends on visibility, accountability, and clear identification.

Join us Friday, April 24th at 10AM for the Denver Citizen Oversight Board Meeting. Chief Thomas will be present at the meeting. We will demand an explanation for DPD’s use of masks, and for clarification on the mask-ban policy. by @denverjusticeproject

THIS SH!T IS SCARY! 🎃👻

There’s plenty to be frightened of this Halloween, but unchecked police power, mass incarceration, and systems that profit from our communities’ harm shouldn’t be among them.

The good news? We know what’s more powerful than fear! Community power, collective action, and getting organized.

When we organize, we build the power to challenge injustice, hold systems accountable, and create safer communities together.

Stay safe, stay spooky, and keep organizing. 🕷️🧙🏽 by @denverjusticeproject

NO ON AMENDMENT 81 🚫📢

It’s almost Election Day! Time to fill out your ballot, and vote NO on Amendment 81 to protect our communities against local police collaborating with federal immigration agents.

Colorado state law already prevents collaboration between local law enforcement and ICE. Amendment 81 is a roll-back of years of hard work and organizing to protect community members from the violence that stems from local police working together with federal ICE agents.

Amendment 81 is BAD POLICY! Vote NO on 81 by November 3rd 🗳️ by @denverjusticeproject

VOTE NO ON PROP 132! 🗳️❌

This is the war on drugs, repackaged as “public safety”

Prop 132 makes possession of ANY amount of fentanyl (even one pill!) a felony, and impose mandatory 8–32 year prison sentences. Even if no money was exchanged, or the individual did not know fentanyl was present.

Prop 132 has no funding allocated for housing, healthcare, living-wage jobs, food access, public education, recovery services, naloxone, harm reduction, peer support, or non-police crisis response — all things we know make our communities safer.

VOTE NO ON 81! 🗳️

Amendment 81 would require Colorado law enforcement agencies to cooperate with ICE.

‼️ WHY VOTE NO ON 81?
• It turns every arrest into a possible deportation.
• Requires racial profiling.
• It makes communities less safe.
• It reverses years of organizing to protect our immigrant communities.

🚫 AMENDMENT 81 MAKES COMMUNITIES LESS SAFE!

Real safety comes from strong families, stable housing, healthcare, and community care, not from cages.

Next Steps 📢
• Return your ballot with a NO vote on Amendment 81
• Educate your neighbors about Amendment 81 — @co_immigrant is hosting canvassing! by @denverjusticeproject

Denver City Council is having an At-Large special election on November 3rd following Council Member Sarah Parady’s resignation.

Sarah Parady was an ally on many of the issues facing Denver community members including:

* Opposing mass surveillance and ALPRs
* Prohibiting houseless encampment sweeps
* Preventing new data center construction
* Advocating against corporate wage theft
* Alternatives to crisis response with non-police engagement teams housed outside of Denver Department of Safety

It’s important that we consider who is filling Sarah Parady’s seat! Elected officials should advocate for policies that keep communities safer, including expanding access to housing, healthcare, food, living-wage jobs, public education, recovery and treatment services, and non-police crisis response.

Thank you @housekeysactionnetworkdenver and @mutualaidmonday for hosting this candidate forum, and thank you to the community members who participated and asked candidates important questions. by @denverjusticeproject

🗳️ VOTE NO ON PROP 132!

This is the war on drugs, repackaged as “public safety”

Prop 132 makes possession of ANY amount of fentanyl (even one pill!) a felony, and imposes a mandatory 8–32 year prison sentence. Even if no money was exchanged, or the individual did not know fentanyl was present.

Prop 132 is estimated to cage over 1,000 more non-violent people by 2030. This will cost taxpayers $422 million to build the carceral infrastructure needed to meet the increased demand.

THIS MONEY SHOULD BE SPENT ON RESOURCES THAT ACTUALLY MAKE COMMUNITIES SAFER!

Prop 132 has no funding allocated for housing, healthcare, living-wage jobs, food access, public education, recovery services, naloxone, harm reduction, peer support, or non-police crisis response — all things we know make our communities safer.

We need to move thoughtfully and carefully when making decisions about data centers and AI which will have lasting impacts on our communities, health, environment, society and future. A data center placed right next to a park, rec center, apartments and health care facility in the middle of North Denver’s Elyria neighborhood, one of the most polluted areas of the country is an example of when Use-By-Right turns into Use-By-Wrong zoning practices.
Thank you to Denver City Councilman Paul Kashmann for for coming out, physically in community to witness first hand what is happening and become a champion to prevent future harm. Thank you to the 150+ people who joined us for our latest Pollution & Solutions Tour! 🌱🌺💚#community #datacenter #water #health by @denverjusticeproject
