Their brief was simple: all white, modern and romantic — but with enough detail that you’d want to look a little closer.

They wanted something that felt like them: understated, intentional and quietly beautiful. No bold colours competing for attention, no overly traditional details — just a tall architectural silhouette, layers of smooth and fluted textures, generous areas of untouched surface, delicate handmade sugar florals, and their initials becoming part of the design.

I love when a couple gives me a feeling rather than a picture to recreate. It leaves room to translate their story into something that feels personal to their celebration.

And for this one, the beauty was always going to be in the details. 🤍

Their brief was romantic, elegant and timeless — a statement cake, but one that still felt soft.

They wanted height and presence for the room, with ivory as the foundation and muted blush tones drawn from their florals. Something detailed and traditional at heart, but still refined enough to feel current.

So I leaned into delicate embossed textures, pearl borders and a cascade of flowers, allowing the deeper dusty-rose details to bring just enough contrast.

What I love most is how naturally it became part of the setting. It didn’t need to compete with the florals surrounding it; it felt as though it had always belonged there.

Sometimes the goal isn’t for the cake to stand apart from the wedding. It’s for it to feel like another layer of the story the couple has already created. 🤍

I created this cake back in July, and she’s finally making it onto the feed. 🤍

Soft fondant folds bring movement to the tall silhouette, while white orchids and gold initials give it a romantic, personal finish. Still one I love looking back on.

Fifteen years of marriage — of growing a family, building a life, and becoming more than the two people who first said I do.

I wanted that growth to live in the design. The draping moves between the tiers, the florals continue that sense of movement, and the edible pearls bring a quiet elegance to the celebration.

What started as two people has grown into a whole life together.

A vow renewal isn’t only about promising forever — it’s about celebrating everything forever has already become. 🤍

The brief? A celebration cake for someone who loves plants.

Rather than interpreting that literally, I wanted the cake to feel as though something was growing across it.

So the design started from the ground up — delicate botanical textures climbing from the base, touches of green moving organically across the tiers, and white florals arranged with the looseness and movement you’d find in nature.

I wanted there to be something new to notice the closer you looked, without the cake ever feeling busy.

Sometimes inspiration doesn’t have to be recreated literally. You can take what someone loves and translate the feeling of it into cake. And I think that may be my favourite part of designing. 🤍 by @deolasdelights

The bride wanted something tall and elegant, with enough presence for the reception space, but she was equally clear about what she didn’t want — anything too ornate, overly colourful or heavy.

So I kept the tiers ivory and let the details reveal themselves slowly: lace-inspired texture pressed into the surface, scattered pearls, and their monogram sitting quietly at the centre. The teal came through the florals instead — arranged asymmetrically so they could soften the height and bring movement to an otherwise structured silhouette.

I think that balance is what makes this design for me. Clean, but not plain. Romantic, without being overly delicate. Detailed, without needing to show everything at once.

A cake designed to complement the room, while still having a presence of its own.

Sukrit & Jon didn’t come to me with one cake they wanted recreated. They came with pieces of their story.

They loved dimensional details, writing on cakes, and the idea of incorporating the plum and lavender tones from their reception. They also wanted a nod to something they share outside of their wedding day — their love of astronomy.

But my favourite part of their vision was wanting words on the cake that meant something to them.

So rather than choosing one inspiration image to follow, I pulled those ideas together into one design: florals in their wedding colours, pearl detailing inspired by a galaxy, touches of gold, and a handwritten-style tier featuring words from At Last — the song they chose for their first dance.

Their initials became the finishing detail at the top.

This is the part of designing wedding cakes I love most: taking all the little things that mean something to a couple and finding a way for them to belong together.

Not simply a cake made for their wedding, but one that could only really have been Sukrit & Jon’s. 🤍
