@mrphisha has been photographing me for over 10 years now, and there’s something really special about being photographed by someone who has known you for that long.

He’s probably the one person who knows how to capture me in all my elements. I never feel like I have to perform for his camera or become some overly posed version of myself. He just captures the moment as it is — the movement, the laughter, the stillness, the little things in between.

And that’s what I love most about his photography. I always still look and feel like me.

This shoot was especially light and easy because some of my favourite people were in the room. We laughed, played music, talked nonsense and somehow, in between all of that, Phisha made magic.

More than 10 years of being on the other side of his lens, and somehow he still manages to show me versions of myself I haven’t seen before. ❤️

When I was planning my birthday shoot, I kept oscillating between do I want to wear makeup, or do I want to go without it?

I decided that if I was going to wear makeup, it had to be as natural as possible. I wanted to look like me — just beautifully enhanced.

And one person I knew could achieve that was @deolasoneye . So when she reached out and said she’d love to glam me for my 40th, I was like, PERFECT. She knows my skin, she understands my skin tone, and I knew I could trust her.

And we made some really beautiful magic. ✨

I loved my makeup. I loved my hair from @lolaexpresshair. And then there are the PHOTOS. Shot by none other than the amazing @mrphisha .

I actually think we might shut down the internet with these ones. But you’ll have to hold your breath for a few more days. Although… if I’m feeling generous, I might drop something tomorrow. 👀 by @deolasoneye
