One year of living in americas finest city!

I’ve never felt more at home, which I thought would fix everything. I hadn’t felt like myself in 3 years and thought that I lacked discipline. Honestly I thought I was a lazy POS. I thought the move would fix everything, but it didn’t. After going back to therapy I learned that I have indeed not been a lazy, undisciplined POS for 3 years but have had major depressive disorder without realizing it. Which unchecked has done a lot of damage on my life most notably my relationships, career/finances, and self image. It’s unfortunate that it took this long for me to find out and let it do this much damage but I feel hopeful in my ability to heal and become myself again. I guess I don’t usually post stuff like that here but I wanted to talk about it just in case it could help anyone. Whether it be someone who never hears from me and think they did something wrong (not the case, I just never talk to anyone in fear of things going wrong), or it be someone who also hasn’t been themself for a long period of time and has been saying “I just need to lock in”, maybe they need to hear this too. It’s not normal to dread talking to people, to distrust everyone, to not be able to bring yourself to do things even things you enjoy doing, or to “not feel like yourself” for longer than you can remember. “Hustle culture” and capitalism has lead us to believe that we are worth what we can achieve/produce and that you just need lock in and power through it but we are so much more than that. I knew I wasn’t okay but I thought it was a matter of discipline and that just isn’t true. If you relate to any of this I recommend finding help however you can. I put it off for too long and deeply regret it. Hopefully this can help inspire someone who needs it to do so. taken in San Diego, California by @derailleurs
