A year ago, I stepped away from agency life to find a better balance for raising a young family and it’s been the most rewarding decisions I’ve made. Honestly, that year has flown in and it’s been busy in the best way possible. I’ve had the chance to work with a whopper mix of agencies, brands and freelancers. I’m incredibly grateful to everyone who booked me on projects, recommended me to a friend of a friend, reached out for a chat or just sent a nice text along the way. Somewhere in the middle of it all, myself and @_iandownes decided to set up @p.l.a.y.a.r.e.a with the same goal of finding a new balance. So far has been really positive and it’s exciting to see where it can go. More importantly than any of that, I’ve had more free time that has allowed me see Ollie grow up. Play Area is a creative production studio with no hard edges and loads of friends. We can fit in your back pocket or take up the whole world. Up to you. We won’t make a song and dance of it. Unless you want that, then we’re pros. We’ve got the means and the bollocks to break a few things, dust them off and glue them back together bigger and better. Play Area takes off with less hot air and more bang. We do big brands, small brands, and no brands. It doesn’t matter. We know it’s not what you’ve got, it’s how you play with it. We’ll kick down the four walls of your office cubicle and tell you to never grow up. Think of us as a day spa for all your harebrained schemes, working out the knots at all stages of their life. Earlier this year I was lucky enough to photograph @dermotkennedy for his new global celebration of Irishness called @misneachfestival . In Sydney and Boston the live music and arts event will see his vision come to life in March 2025. Working closely with our team in @tenthmanhello , we concepted and crafted the look & feel and branding of the festival, and co-created illustrations with Dermot himself. I’m buzzing to share this. I recently had the incredible opportunity to shoot 'Generations of Originals', a new campaign for @lifestylesports in collaboration with @adidas Featuring @jamie.lee.od and @jafarismusic the campaign takes us on a time-travelling journey from the 80s to the 90s and back to today. All to showcase the timeless nature of adidas Originals. The stills form part of a 360 campaign that was created & produced by the team @tenthmanhello. The amazing team at @teamhopeireland asked @_iandownes and I to help them bring their campaign to life for this years Shoebox Appeal. We reimagined their very own book ‘Bunny’s Shoexbox Journey’ written by Rachel Browne and told Team Hopes inspiring story in our own way. The Shoebox Appeal has been part of my Christmas memories since childhood, so being asked to create something to help raise awareness for this year’s appeal was an incredible opportunity to give back. To get involved in this years appeal visit teamhope.ie. To date they’ve shared gifts with over 2million children facing poverty. Gone freelance 👀 After the guts of 7years with @tenthmanhello I’ve decided to change gears.
