Twenty years later, I've come full circle in the music industry and joined the team at @immortal.music.group. I'm applying everything I've learned to drive creative direction and merchandise logistics. The past two months have been a whirlwind, but I'm eager to see what's next! What Happens When the Messengers Outlive the Messages? App-based delivery and digitisation have shrunk traditional messenger work to a fraction of what it was five years ago. But at CMWC 2025 in Sydney, 150 riders proved the culture was never just about the deliveries. Full feature is live on our substack. Hit the link to read and subscribe. P.S Next time your business needs something moved, look beyond the apps. Seek out a local messenger service. 📸: @derekvrebel CC: @cmwc2025sydney by @derekvrebel

More than 150 bike messengers from across the globe descended on Sydney for CMWC 2025 @cmwc2025sydney. Twenty years after the city hosted Australia’s first edition, they came back—from France, Germany, the USA, the UK, across Asia—for a week that tested speed, instinct, and the unique skillset you can only develop doing this work. Alleycat races in live traffic. Sprints. Trackstands. Footdown competitions. All of it capturing the raw spirit of a culture that refuses to die. Tag ya mates! Full feature landing on our substack this week. Hit the link to subscribe to get first access. Photographed by @derekvrebel by @derekvrebel

A public service announcement - Brought to you by MAAP and @public_possession Possession >> Channelling the divine chaos of urban spin outs, made for those suuuuuuper slow rides, where sound trumps a forward movement focus. For the MAAP Equinox EXP, a bunch of us set out to chase the light for 12 hours encompassing 330km with 6400m of climbing. This would be the biggest ride both in distance & elevation by a fair margin for most of us. It’s not often you get to explore the unknown and I was immediately hooked on the idea when @derekvrebel asked me to join with the words - Just do it. The route contained most of the well known climbs in greater Melbourne which are usually done as standalone rides but they all were stitched together into one extra long day. With the weather playing nicely, cramps tempered and the support crew of @gemelise_, @theprinceofcarltonnorth, we got it done with 8 minutes to spare. More time at the pub! #maaprides #maapapparel #theequinoxexperience 📸 @theprinceofcarltonnorth & @darghvid taken in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia by @derekvrebel

If you had asked me five years ago if I’d ever be riding on ZWIFT, I would have scoffed at the idea. Nowadays, I look forward to having some time to myself—pushing into the pain cave with no distractions. The Off the MAAP tour has certainly put me in said pain cave 🥵 The ZWIFT Ride takes this to a new level—a ZWIFT-based platform that allows you to easily set up your position to cater to indoor riding (no more 🦐), seamless shifting, and full control of in-game settings from your bars. The ability to steer the bike in and out of drafts or drop kudos bombs really brings an extra dimension to the experience too! The Off the MAAP Tour is running all month, and there’s still time to finish stages you might have missed so you can access this limited edition jersey! Stage 2 is live now and Stage 3 kicks off on Monday. See you in the nether realm. 🔮 Pics by @gemelise_ #zwiftride #maapcc #offthemaap by @derekvrebel
