To the love of my life, I have never felt so comfortable with someone. When we first met, I knew right then and there I wanted you and only you for the rest of my life. You came into my life when I needed it the most. These last few months have been hard on both of us with all the appointments and all that goes on behind the scenes, including our business. Despite all of that you stay calm, cool, and collected, and you guide me through the stress. I wouldn't be where I am today without you jae so for that, thank you I love you. by @derinbergman

Today marks exactly one year since the accident that forever changed my life. During this past year I have fought my hardest to push forward through all of the challenges that have come my way. Its amazing to look back and see how much progress I have made. My doctors told me that I'd never walk again and that I would no longer have any use my left arm but now I'm walking, swimming and climbing stairs! Just goes to show that if you put your mind to anything you can do it. by @derinbergman

After they brought me out of sedation I thought my life was over. I figured I'd never find love, never ride again or never do anything I love again. I felt like a burden to my family. Then I saw everyone come out to help and support not only me, but my family too. Jut seeing all my family and friends have my back gave me the strength to push myself to get better. The one thing I fought the hardest for was to get back on a bike and thanks to the @rideagainfoundation I finally did it. I want to thank everyone who's helped along the way. I finally feel like I have my life back and there's no amount of words that could express how gratefull I am for all of you guys. I finally feel whole again. #Insta360 In over 3 decades of riding a motorcycle and years of coaching others I have never experienced what I do when working with the @rideagainfoundation This is @derinbergman Derin.... A young rider who lost the use of his lower body after a horrific motorcycle accident in NH where he resides with his amazing and loving family. Another individual who has reminded me that no matter how tough life becomes, as long as we are alive, we should be grateful and live it to the fullest !! Through the efforts of @TheRideagainFoundation (non profit organization) and it's partners @thebikeexperienceusa @apexridingacadamy @pinnymoves @titaniums1000 @slimrides. Our brothers and sisters like Derin have the opportunity to ride again... something that most accident survivors will only ever dream of. On July 21st, 2024, at 1:07am I left my house to go on a group ride up in northern NH to watch the sunrise. I didn’t know I wouldn’t return home again until October 3rd, 2024. July 21st was the day my entire life changed. I was in a near fatal motorcycle accident on the Kancamagus Highway. I suffered extensive injuries such as a L1 burst fracture, severe nerve damage and several broken bones in my left arm/hand, broken bones throughout my left foot/ankle, broken pelvis, etc. I spent almost two weeks in the ICU at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center. Once I was released from the ICU I stayed at Dartmouth for about another week before I was transferred to Spaulding Rehabilitation Center. I was at Spaulding from the beginning of August to the beginning of October. Although I was out of in patient rehab, my recovery was far from over. Ive spent a lot of time going to physical and occupational therapy. I’ve gone through many surgeries to try and restore function of my arm and fix my foot. My journey has been incredibly hard but i’ve had the best supporters along the way. My family, my fiancée, and my friends have helped me get to where I am today. They’ve never let me give up. I was told at Dartmouth that I would never be able to walk again. I have fought everyday and am now able to walk over a 1/4 mile. My biggest dream, the thing i’ve wanted since the day I wrecked, was to get back on a bike again. I was able to achieve this goal almost 2 years after my accident. The Ride Again Foundation gave me the opportunity of a lifetime. I went out to one of their events and they helped me get back on a bike. Stepping into that community, surrounded by people who truly understand this fight, felt like coming home. Everyone was terrified to see me get back on a bike but the support from the Ride Again team has been amazing. When you think your life is over: remember most of the time, it’s just the beginning. Thank you to every single person who lifted me up and brought me to this point. It's late, but here's my two-year update. A year ago, I could walk, but not very well. I could stand without holding onto something, and I had little to no function in my right leg. Now, I can walk up to a quarter mile. I can stand without holding onto anything for five minutes. I can bend down and pick things up off the ground without holding onto anything, and I have a lot more function in my right leg. I feel like I have my life back, and I couldn't have done any of this without all of you having my back. So, thank you. Just know that when you think life is too much and you want to give up, remember: "God gives His toughest battles to His strongest soldiers."
