indeed. by @derinmama
the ways of the Lord are indeed not our ways. how much of our lives can we fairly predict? for some, their paths are linear. for many like me, not so much. we are very fascinated by the wind, and we’ve learned to lean into our seasons. but one thing has remained consistent: His presence with me. i know He really likes me. a love like no other. He is always thinking of me. i love Him too. He is the Joy of my salvation. my friend called me happy chappy this week, and i have thought about that for some time. i get it. firstly, i have Jesus, and there’s a lot of consolation in Him. secondly, i have good energy and warmth. i’m firm, many days quiet, but i’m warm. and it’s because that’s the environment i’ve discovered i can exist in. if i want to live, then i have to make sure my habitat is optimised for the preservation of my life, too. so i make joy the order of the day. even when i’m ranting, i get halfway through and make a joke. because how then shall we survive this long life if we’re grumpy and miserable? whatever. the paragraphs don’t even seem to match, but idc today. 🤣 happy Saturday! 🎉✨ thank God for chatgpt in re-editing these photos because i thought i was never going to be able to use them! 🤧 by @derinmama
clearing out my olds. by @derinmama
it wasn’t so long ago when i felt deeply disappointed by the Lord, in a way that left me feeling a kind of apathy i hadn’t experienced in a long while. i wanted to be left alone. if we needed to speak, i wanted it to be me doing all the talking, not Him speaking to me. because why make me all these promises if it was only going to feel like nothing? i felt like i had followed Him only to hit a roadblock. but getting to that point helped me see a different side of Him. sometimes, we can think that all He is to us is a result of all we are to Him. we think we have this because we dwelt, we prayed, this worked because we fasted. we name things in declarations, and so we claim them. indeed, there’s a place for that. but if everything we became were only the things we prayed ourselves into, we would fall far short of all He made us to be. i see this now, more clearly. i see love. i see mercy. i see the One whose character of faithfulness remains unchanged, irrespective of the season of my life. i see the One who still gives presence, even if it meant silence. i see that when i have worn myself out relying on my own strength and creative intelligence, He is still there, at the end of it all. i see that He doesn’t leave, even when i come to the end of myself, because the end of me is the beginning of Him. i see it all now. the Omega is the Alpha. i have known it, but this is an experience. the attached song has been playing in my heart for days. it was His hug to me. oh, that i may forever dance to the rhythm of His heart. what an honor to be loved at home, with Him and in Him. by @derinmama

“friend, you are a child of God. the Spirit of God is with you. He is not confused about your next step and is not intimidated by what is ahead. the life of obedience is not carried by human strength. it is walked step by step with the Spirit of God.” Encounters Volume 2, Day 4 - Led by the Spirit by @derinmama
E N C O U N T E R S VOL. 2 oh my goodness, writing this volume took everything in me, but we’re here now. isn’t God humorous? how He gets you to journey with Him in obedience, then He makes you write on it. it was november 2023 when everything felt like a deeper plunge. before then, He had been drawing me in, but it was as though we had reached a point where things that weren’t right but had been overlooked could no longer be. things that were lawful but not expedient had to go. from that oil, i have written. in my own life, the voice of God has been one of the greatest pursuits of my days, and obedience to Him has been one of the most defining practices of my faith. i have known the strange, quiet power of doing what God says before it makes sense. i have experienced how a single step of obedience can open what years of striving could not. i have also known the weight of it. the cost. the uncertainty. the hard seasons of walking without full sight. and through all of it, i have known the comfort of obeying Him. so i wrote this for anyone struggling to walk in obedience. for anyone God has spoken to whose heart is wrestling. for anyone asking why obedience matters at all. this second volume was born out of my own journey with God, and i pray it becomes a comfort to you as you walk yours. there’s a copy in my bio for you, available in ebook and paperback (Nigeria)! would also be up on amazon by the weekend for those across the UK, US & CA who want the paperback yay!💃🏽🎉 by @derinmama
while heartbreaks and betrayals can become a weight on our souls, they can also become moments the Lord uses to draw us into a depth of Himself that is revealed only through pain. as we grow in our faith, both as Christians and as leaders, we also grow in the largeness of our hearts. that means we grow in our capacity to love, to carry, and to give, and in the world of men, our greater capacity to love also means grief along the journey becomes inevitable. so what do we do? we must always turn our pain to Jesus. He is the One who has experienced what we are experiencing, who understands the wounds we carry, and who has the balm for our hearts. that way, we do not become our pain. instead, we are able to bless others because of what we have endured. the God of all comfort comforts us so that, having received His comfort, we can become vessels of that same comfort to others. —— my thoughts as inspired by the attached song. photo credit @lebabysoda by @derinmama
E N C O U N T E R S I spent some time in 2025 writing the first volume of a devotional series. This desire came from my place of prayer. From time to time, now even more frequently, people would reach out to me, longing for deeper fellowship with the Lord. They’d ask questions, and many times as I listened, I would often think: if only they knew the Lord as Faithful. If only they knew Him as Good. If only they knew that the chastening of the Lord is a proof of His love. If only they knew that He is precise and always on time. This volume of Encounters is a 30-day, perspective-shifting devotional. A few of my friends and Bible study family read through some of the days, and some said it felt like my newsletters, words that have blessed many. Even when I haven’t written a newsletter in months, people still go back to the old ones and reply to me. It’s that good, but more importantly, this devotional is The Message. It is scripture interpreting scripture. It is honest. It carries the breath of the Almighty. It is a work of obedience. It is my hope that the glory of the Lord will shine on your hearts, and the light of God will cause you to truly see. All glory to the Lord for the grace to birth this, and for the people He placed around me who contributed to the process. You can get it now through the link in my bio for a really small price. #EncountersDevotional Book & Cover design by my team @beiconique by @derinmama
