Derozan is known for his virtuosic, non linear, cinematic storytelling mixing style. Twisting and turning the outernational frequencies to an extent that you will keep asking what’s more to discover. Never afraid to switch the pace and blend you into another chapter of music that matters.

One year ago on the 12th of June @globaldancesuspense @auralconduct and @a.madsociety organized an intimate gathering of global dance experimentalism at V11.

Rather than posting in the moment, we took some time to process this event and decided to upload the footage taken as archive material. Every artist showed what they stand for. An act of liberation. Sound as a healing process.

Sunday 21 June, longest day of the year and Exert! #3 at @studio__tumbuh. We've been so stunned by the previous two, the rawness and honest creativity going on with such a focused crowd is something else. Next one we have @deroz4nnn in collage-turntablism mode with @ghenwa_noire concocting various layers of sound 🫆

ghenwa (noiré) abou fayad is a Lebanese cross-disciplinary artist, performer, and installation practitioner. Their work explores the politics of language, oral history, and repetition through sound, storytelling, and improvisation. Using an electro-acoustic setup, ghenwa plays the bouzouqi and sings, layering synths to weave together socio-political narratives, memory, and everyday survival. Through ongoing sound research with a dactylo (Arabic typewriter) as an instrument, they investigate the gendered history of typing as feminized labor and its sonic potential. Performance functions as a living archive shaped by embodied experience in ghenwa's practice, often extending into pedagogical and collaborative ways. At the moment, ghenwa is producing their debut EP, daken – sombre.

Derozan is known for his virtuosic, non-linear storytelling — a signature approach he calls 'Innate Blending'. Seamlessly navigating genres through his fluid, quicksand-like mixing style, and embracing shifting tempos and percussive turns, his sets weave together both the hypermodern and hidden pockets of experimental music from the past, while consciously incorporating sounds from non-Western scenes. The Rotterdam-based DJ’s work resonates in both club and listening settings, and is frequently showcased on his radio shows Global Dance Suspense and Swallowtail Town. He is part of the Utrecht collective Zenith, which focuses on the fringes of nightlife culture and visual art, providing space for local talent to perform and develop.

After this, we enter selection + mixing-mastering phase, cut the best bits for the compilation CD. Mark end November for the release night!

Derozan is reinventing what electronic music is and can be. The charming DJ draws on cinematic storytelling and film scores to inspire his sets – which are arguably scores in themselves. Thanks @dohm____ for letting me open the space in the most freeform approach I ever did. Mixing old records with digital files to open chapters in anyone’s book they never have heard. 🔊

Still in awe of all the wonderful howls and comments I received of this special three hour sonic intervention. I’m off for coming month but will be back in deep autumn again 🍁

Announcing the final acts for aural dance suspense next week on Thursday, 12 June.

🌑 @saynotosu will present a wayang dance performance, titled The Banish Lands. This is a tale, part of the Wayang Mimpi Series. It follows the story of a politician who gets possessed by a wayang.

As Ratri Notosudirdjo writes, “...Wayang Mimpi, which translates to Shadow Puppetry of Dreams in Bahasa Indonesia, is an evolving archive of experimental wayang performances. Across seven stories, invisible threads are woven from the complex fabric of Indonesian realities, surfacing migrational histories. Through this series, surreal landscapes emerge, sites where unimaginable havoc unfolds and hidden narratives take root.”

Ratri is a performance artist and researcher from Jakarta, currently based in Rotterdam, who works with de- and postcolonial narratives through storytelling. Moving between dreams, psychic space, and multi-coded realities, she develops multiple styles of storytelling forms that revisit personal and collective experiences of em/im—migration, late capitalism, childhood, belonging, identity, and memory.

🌬️ We end with one of the people who made the sound for Ratri: Rotterdam-based Bintang (Manirastar), together with Ghaliz, performing a highly concoctive set to close the night.

@manira.star is one of the souls behind @thesun.rdam as well as many other projects and formations. Originally from Bandung, he is deeply rooted in his Sundanese heritage and fueled by a curiosity for global musical traditions. His sound draws on ancestral memory and exploration, blending tabla, Dhrupad singing, and a unique electronic-acoustic setup.

@emperorsslaves (Ghaliz), raised in Makassar and based in Berlin, creates soundscapes using contact microphones, synths, and pedals—shaped by death metal, anime, and human interaction. He has performed with Soydivision, L-KW, and across Germany and Indonesia.
