MyGirl in Boston tonight should be a great time … 🎷 by @derrick.mroberts

SOME MOMENTS DESERVE MORE THAN MUSIC. THEY DESERVE TO BE FELT. 🎷

This year, we’re bringing live saxophone to the stage.

We’re excited to welcome @derrick.mroberts to Texture Takes the Stage 2026, where he’ll bring a beautiful layer of soul and emotion to our bridal presentation.

There’s something special about live music. It changes the atmosphere, tells a story, and creates a moment you don’t forget.

Betrayal can leave a person battling intrusive thoughts, replaying memories, questioning what was real, or experiencing flashbacks to moments they wish they could forget. For some, trauma can even develop into post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

And sometimes, those who cause the hurt become uncomfortable with the reaction of the person they hurt.

Thing is healing doesn’t happen on OUR timeline. WE don’t get to decide how long it takes someone to trust again, what triggers their pain, or when they should be over it.

Sometimes, the hardest part of healing is learning how to feel safe again in places where you once felt loved.

Man, take me back to the Farm. 🌿

A few months ago, I had the privilege of presenting at the Children’s Defense Fund’s Hall-Proctor Institute at Alex Haley Farm in Tennessee. I spoke on “Creating Safe Spaces for Healing: Trust, Mental Health, and Faith Communities for Today’s Young Adults.”

Thank you to my good brother, Reverend Trevor Beauford, for the invitation, and Reverend Dr. Starsky Wilson for the warm welcome and hospitality.

To stand on the grounds of Alex Haley Farm during the 50th anniversary of Roots was a reminder that our stories matter. The stories we inherit, the wounds we carry, and the work we do to ensure the next generation has a different story to tell.

To be in that sacred place, among people committed to the well-being of our children and communities, was a gift. The work of healing is sacred, and so is the responsibility to make sure our young people know they are seen, heard, and cared for.

Grateful for the opportunity. Even more grateful for the work. by @derrick.mroberts

Something about this one gets me everytime .. by @derrick.mroberts

It’s something about the relationships that are closest to our hearts that seem to do the most damage when there’s a rupture. A smell, a song, even a sound can have a boomerang effect … Does anybody know what I’m talking about?? by @derrick.mroberts
