You can’t become who God is calling you to be while holding onto what He’s calling you to kill.

Some cycles have been passed down for generations. Some battles are happening in secret. Some things the people before you never defeated—but they don’t have to continue through you.

David didn’t just develop warriors who knew how to fight. He developed hearts that knew how to wait, submit, and discern.

Before you become something, you may have to kill something. by @derrickhwkns

Meet Our Executive Pastor - Jayvon Johnson

At Promise City Church, Pastor Jayvon Johnson serves as our Executive Pastor, providing leadership, vision, and structure to the execution of everything God has placed in our house.

As Executive Pastor, Pastor Jayvon is charged with:

Guarding the Vision: Turning the vision God gave our Lead Pastor into actionable systems, strategy, and execution across both locations.

Leading the Staff & Operations: Overseeing day-to-day operations, staff culture, and organizational health to ensure we are excellent in all things.

Building the Church: From Sunday experience to discipleship, outreach, and administration - ensuring that Promise City is structured for the 3x, 5x, and 10x growth God has promised us.

Pastor Jayvon is not just an administrator - he is a leader, a pastor, and a builder. His heart for people, commitment to order, and passion for the House of God is helping Promise City become everything God called us to be.

We honor and appreciate the gift that Pastor Jayvon Johnson is to our church family!

If you see him on Sunday at Central or Northeast, make sure you show him some love.

This season has been beautifully difficult. I have had to repent, apologize, love through challenges, rest, breathe, and ultimately lean into Jesus more than I have ever done in my life.

He is worth it.
It is worth it.
And, He is worthy.

That will always be my forever posture. by @derrickhwkns

Dear Promise City Northeast, PC Kids, Team, Supporters, and Friends,

It was amazing to celebrate the launch of Promise City Northeast! We want to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who came out, prayed with us, served, and supported this special moment. Our lead team and staff worked diligently behind the scenes to help make the launch a success, and we are so grateful for every person who contributed their time, love, and gifts to the vision. Your sacrifices and heart for God do not go unnoticed.

To every pastor, leader, family member, and friend who showed up to support us, please know how much it meant to us. Your presence, encouragement, and love were truly appreciated. A special thank-you to Mayor Cyril Jefferson, Pastor Jay Stewart, William and Darlene Allen, KJ and Kira Scriven, James and Daniella Young, Apostle Marvin and Lady Leak, Elder Janice Morrison, and the incredible city of Greensboro for welcoming us back with open arms.

We are excited about all that God is doing through Promise City Northeast and look forward to continuing to grow, serve, and build community together. We would love for you to join us again next Sunday as we continue this journey!

Join us next Sunday:

Time: 1:30 PM

These are some of the first people I met when coming to New Life nearly 10 years ago. No agendas, no titles—just genuine friendship. I had never experienced the Glory of God like being in those rooms.
