One of the greatest initiatives which @desa_sheffield is proud to have started is our ladies social club @leisureunited.s9

A place where ladies from all backgrounds come together on a weekly basis to #socialise , make new friends, try new activities and best of all have a cup of tea and a chat!

So far the ladies have taken part in #football #badminton #powerwalking #walking #fruitpicking #cross_stitch and taken a trip to the beach!

We believe it is important to ensure that all members of our #community have a something which they can engage in , feel a part of and look forward to.

This is the first step to ensure that the ladies from across #sheffield keep active to improve their #physicalhealth which will in turn have a positive impact on their #mentalhealth

We would like to take this opportunity to thank @leisureunited.s9 and their wonderful staff for opening their doors to the ladies and making them feel so welcome taken in Leisure United Woodbourn Road by @desa_sheffield

👨‍🎓 Student: “What’s the most difficult leadership decision you’ve ever had to make?”
🙋🏽‍♂️Me: “Putting my ego aside, and accepting that I’m not always the right person for the job.”

This was an example of some of the questions the bright students over at @desa_sheffield asked me during our Leadership Lab, coined by @hatzortzis & @draminhashmi. ♥️

Leadership is one of the most misunderstood concepts today… It can be seen simply by examining the state of many of our organisations.

But @hatzortzis really has changed our lives with his uniquely packaged leadership principles, in accordance with divine revelation. The principles aim to remove the ego from leadership, and argue that a God-centred, servant leadership style is the only true way to lead.

In a world where we actively seek leadership roles, rather than reach them through merit - these principles hold more weight than ever, and we’re so fortunate to be able to share this benefit with our students.

I can’t wait to see how this part of our journey unfolds. Thank you to Abdul Malik for inviting us again 😊

The @desa_sheffield Summer BBQ in the Park 2026

Young people spending their summer evenings together, away from screens and in a safe, positive environment.

Our @desa_sheffield BBQ in the Park was all about bringing the #community together.

Good food, conversations and time to build friendships in a relaxed setting. These moments might seem simple, but they help create trust, strengthen relationships and give young people a real sense of belonging.

@desa_sheffield x @sheffmuseums 🪨🌋

@desa_sheffield , we believe learning happens through experiences that inspire curiosity, creativity and confidence.

Our girls had the fantastic opportunity to work alongside Sheffield Museums to create a public exhibition all about volcanoes and igneous rocks. From researching the science behind volcanoes to selecting rocks from Sheffield’s geology collection and writing the display labels, they took ownership of every stage of the project.

Having their work showcased for the public to see is something they can be incredibly proud of. Experiences like this build confidence, develop communication skills and show our young people that their ideas and voices matter.

This is what cultural capital looks like…opening doors, creating opportunities and helping young people experience things they may never have had access to otherwise.

#Cultural Capital is at the ❤️ of @desa_sheffield

When people think of @desa_sheffield , they often think of #football, #boxing or sports.

But what we’re really trying to do is give young people opportunities and experiences they may never have had before.

Our recent hike in the Peak District wasn’t just a walk up a hill. For some of the boys, it was their first time exploring the countryside, climbing a mountain and spending time away from the city.

These experiences build #confidence, #resilience and independence. They help young people see what’s possible and encourage them to step outside their comfort zone. The memories they make today can shape the decisions they make tomorrow. taken in Peak District by @desa_sheffield

#sheffield finally has a #football club which give its players so much more then ‘just’ high quality football training.
