making lamps & creative chaos in nyc
failing majestically so you sail aesthetically ✨

POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

In my “I can make this” era. It feels great to make a piece I admire, and through trials and errors I have gained a deeper appreciation for each part and how they come together 💫

Hope this inspires you to make something you’ve wanted!

Photography is literally harvesting light on paper. I’m glad that my paper camera was able to capture some pretty cool shots even with a light leak :)

If you want to see how the camera was made, check out pt 1 of my video or see Kelli’s template linked in my bio!

quest no.2: making a paper camera with @kellianderson

While photography can seem extremely complex, the underlying phenomenon is quite simple! I hope you try making a paper camera with Kelli’s template linked in my bio :)

Lamp notes no.2: Added some whimsical houses on my handmade lamp ✨🧚🏼‍♀️.

I had an idea of making the houses look like faces, and my friend said I should also give them arms and legs. Should I do that next? Also open to ideas for the holiday season! (mini snowman?) ⛄️

Welcome to lamp notes, where I share my lighting experiments! Follow along and decorate my handmade lamp with geometric patterns :)

I found a variety pack of colored tissue paper, then cut them out to various rectangular forms. It was fun to play around with shapes and test how they complement each other!

A nice cord can make your lamp a lot cuter! When I made my paper lamp, I chose a brown macrame cord with clear plug and switch :)

One thing to note: my plug is unpolarized, so it doesn’t differentiate between hot and neutral wires. I didn’t know this when I bought it, but I’d recommend a polarized plug because it’s safer!

before I started making lamps, I wanted to create a live train display. This project taught me basic hardware, and also forced me to practice soldering.

looking back, it was serendipitous because it’s a lighting project!! I was able to apply a lot of it to wiring lamps haha :)

thanks to @pcbway for partnering with me, and I’m excited to share the website that accompanies this board soon!
