This is where my Jacksons are at right now. Jackson RR3 2008 MIJ, Jackson Kelly KEX 2022, and a 1996 Jackson DR-X MIJ. The KEX is the most recent addition, bringing something a bit different alongside the older ones.

I rebuilt the pedalboard and reshaped the whole signal path.

The chain starts at the Swiff Audio tuner and Boss NS-2 noise suppressor, then runs into the overdrive I built myself: an SD-1-style design that includes a germanium input buffer, a higher-grade IC, and other custom modifications.

After that, the DIY dual loop switch feeds either the AMT SS-20 or the AMT P2 preamps. The SS-20 has a rounder, warmer feel, while the P2 is tighter and more aggressive, so switching between them covers a lot of tonal ground.

Ambience is handled by the Nux Tape Core. The Ibanez Pentatone shapes the final tone, and the DOD Mini manages volume levels.

The chain ends at the Engl Cabloader, which makes it easy to run into a PA system, an amp, or straight into a recording setup. Power comes from the Cioks Sol, and all connections are wired with George L’s and Van Damme cables.

The goal was a quieter, more straightforward setup, and that worked out well. Noise is basically gone, the tones stay consistent, and it’s quick to hook up anywhere. The only downside is that this version is larger and heavier than the old board.

Been testing out the ENGL Cabloader. Works well so far. The sounds fit nicely and the operation is straightforward. It’s basically set and forget.

Made some updates to the pedalboard. Picked up a Metal Zone again and decided to put it back on the board. Also added the ENGL Cabloader for amp sim duties. The two grey boxes are my own builds: Grönsak (a TS-9/SD-1 mix) and Silverbullet clean preamp. Boss NS-2 takes care of noise, Nux Tape Core handles delay & reverb, and the DOD pedal is on volume duties. The board can also be powered with a power pack.

Fixed up this 1996 Jackson DR-X MIJ that was in pretty rough shape. Leveled the frets, swapped in Seymour Duncan Hot Rodded pickups, and cleaned and adjusted everything. Turned out great, plays really well now. Ready for upcoming @oceanthrone_official sessions.
