🏕️ Some camps send you home with a friendship bracelet. This one sends you home early.

Morgan never wanted to go to camp.

Miles can’t believe he’s finally there.

And everyone at Camp Windemere seems to agree on one rule:

Stay out of Cabin Seven.

No one will tell them why.

A counselor’s handshake is impossibly wet. Strange things happen around camp. Every answer only leads to more questions—and the closer Morgan gets to Cabin Seven, the clearer it becomes that some rules exist for a reason.

👀 If you grew up loving spooky summer camp stories, slow-building mysteries, and creepy middle-grade horror with a healthy dose of humor, this one’s for you.

📖 Stay Out of Cabin Seven

• Kindle $3.99 • Paperback $6.99

If you’re able to support me, enjoy a quick read, or know a kiddo who would love this, please consider purchasing a copy.

I need at least 10 honest ratings or reviews to improve general visibility, since Amazon is such an enormous platform.

There’s a bell at Camp Windemere nobody’s allowed to ring. 🔔
Ring it after dark, and they send you home early.
The catch? “Home early” isn’t home.
BOOK 2 in the Books With Teeth series is here. 📖 Stay Out of Cabin Seven — for the kid who reads under the covers with a flashlight and the grown-up who never stopped.

Five years ago today, I lost the person who made me a weirdo—and I haven’t stopped growing from it.

My dad was a trans woman who played guitar, built them from wood, listened to The Eagles on road trips, and had a dry sense of humor that could cut through anything. Depression ran in her blood (and mine). ADHD too. But so did creativity. So did the ability to find home in yourself when the world didn’t quite fit.

We made peace at the end. Vanilla milkshakes in a hospital room. Standing On The Corner in Winslow, Arizona—a place that meant everything to both of us, where we’d stood together when I was eight, and where I’d later return with my dogs to recreate that same photo.

Her family stopped calling when she moved; I didn’t understand until it happened to me too. But by then, I finally got it.

Losing her has broken me open in ways I’m still navigating. It was also the thing that saved me. New people. New adventures. New understanding of what she was trying to teach me all those years. It’s reshaped everything—my relationships, my sense of home, what actually matters.

I carry her with me now—in my humor, my creativity, my refusal to apologize for being exactly who I am.

So here’s to five years of missing you, Dad. And to being exactly the kind of weirdo you raised me to be. by @desert.gypsy

Nearly impossible to fathom it’s been two years. It’s been a blur. A lonely but beautiful growth of joy from grief. The grief doesn’t leave though. It’s always there. In my quiet moments. In my dreams. In my heart. You are still there. I fucking miss you, dad. by @desert.gypsy
