Looking to make a difference in the Coachella Valley performing arts community?

Join the Desert Performing Arts Association as we partner with local elementary and middle schools to provide after-school color guard programs throughout the valley.

Over the past two years, our student enrollment has more than doubled, and we’re looking for passionate color guard performers and coaches to help inspire, mentor, and provide high-quality instruction to the next generation of performers.

We’re looking for applicants who have:
• Color guard performance experience
• A high school diploma (or equivalent)
• A passion for education and mentorship
• Reliability and a positive attitude

✨Congratulations to our 2026 scholarship recipients!✨

The Desert Performing Arts Association Scholarship Award recognizes exemplary students who have demonstrated outstanding dedication, leadership, and excellence within the marching arts. Rooted in the organization’s pillars of accessibility, quality, and community, this scholarship supports performers as they pursue their goals in higher education. Recipients embody a commitment to personal growth, artistic achievement, and meaningful contributions to those around them. Through their passion, perseverance, and positive impact, they represent the values and future of the marching arts community. This award celebrates not only their accomplishments as performers, but also their potential to continue inspiring others beyond the ensemble experience.

Angelina Gonzalez: Performed with Las Palmas Winter Guard this season, attends College of the Desert, plans on transferring to CSU Fullerton, and wants to become a kindergarten teacher while staying heavily involved in the marching arts.

Amy Bracamontes: Performed with Las Palmas Winter Guard this season, just graduated from College of the Desert and is committed to attending CSU Long Beach to get her liberal arts degree and teacher credential and become a bilingual elementary school teacher.

Luis Granillo: Performed with Del Sol Winds this season, is attending Cal Poly Pomona, and is pursuing a BS in Construction Engineering and Management while staying involved with marching arts education through being a music and visual instructor.

Carolina Rivera: Performed with Indio High School Winter Guard this season, is committed to UC Santa Barbara, and is planning on pursuing a career as an elementary school teacher.

Congratulations to all of our students from our ELOP partner schools and our guest high school performers on an incredible Spring Showcase!

It was so special to see students who have been learning color guard for just 8 weeks perform alongside students with 8+ years of experience, all coming together to create such a memorable event.

Getting on stage and sharing your passion and talent takes courage, and every single performer should be proud of what they accomplished.

✨ Desert Performing Arts Solo & Ensemble Showcase ✨
Registration is NOW OPEN.

Spots are limited to 60 performances and will close Friday, May 8 at 11:59pm or once we hit capacity… whichever comes first!

📍 Indio High School Gym
📅 Saturday, May 16
⏰ 9:00am – approx. 12:30pm

Join us as we celebrate the marching arts and showcase the incredible talent developed throughout the year! 💫 This event brings together performers from elementary, middle school, high school, college, and independent programs — all levels welcome!

🔹 Performance Details:
• 1–2 minute routines
• 3 minutes total (setup, perform, exit)

💥 Stay until the end for a special group flag routine featuring ALL performers — a powerful moment you won’t want to miss!

🎓 We’ll also be awarding scholarships to graduating seniors and current college students in the marching arts.

✨ BONUS: After the showcase, stick around for a color guard clinic hosted by Las Palmas Winter Guard — open to all ages & skill levels!
