I was absolutely blown away by the opening night of ‘Come Alive’, and beside myself to be invited to a media call this where I got to soak up some iconic moments a second time, see some of the action backstage and chat with the delightful ringmaster and star of the (greatest 😉) show Des Flanagan.

Hand on (still quite rapidly beating) heart - this show is perfect. Singers, dancers, musos and circus performers at the top of their games, performing incredible feats - some of which I had genuinely never seen before and may never recover from - all set to an iconic soundtrack. There were so many elite performers on stage I wished my eyeballs were bigger so I could take more in.

Maeve and I LOVED it (and so did literally everyone else in the audience!). You absolutely will too. Family date, friend date, date-date, solo date! Absolutely do not miss, Perth. #comealive #perth #whatsonperth #dontmissout #seethis by @desflanas

𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗕𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗧𝗛 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗳𝘂𝗹𝗹 𝘀𝗶𝘅-𝗺𝗶𝗻𝘂𝘁𝗲 𝗯𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗼𝘂𝘁.

This is one from the vault. Des Flanagan was at my NYC studio in 2019, and we filmed this breathing sequence that I teach in the Singing Athlete Certification program.

(In the meantime, Des has become a star in his native Australia 🦘, leading shows like Cats and Moulin Rouge.)

The full sequence covers three drills: a diaphragm stretch in multiple positions, a diaphragm strength exercise using hands-on cues under the rib cage to track left/right asymmetry, and a breathing wave that travels segment by segment from the lumbar vertebrae through the entire thoracic spine.
