This next season will be our 11th year of running a Reggae Dub Sound System in India and what a journey it has been!

From donations in hats, living day to day, to putting India on the worldwide Sound System Map, to establishing a record label that is pushing alot of Indian Dub Music, to worldwide bookings from Africa, Jamaica, Mexico, Thailand, all of Europe and more, providing instruments, music & music teachers to hundreds of children in India and Jamaica, built TWO Sound Systems in India, working with grammy winning engineers, musicians and artists, teaching our Indian friends how to build/run a sound system, how to produce dub music, how to be a selekta, and more 🦁🦁🦁

A few years ago this was not even true in our wildest dreams and we are extremely grateful for this opportunity!

We are a self made project that has succeded due to our hard work, dedication and from you all supporting 10000 Lions ❤️

This projects main goal was to bring the Reggae Sound System Culture to India with an actual Sound System + team, now India has 6 Reggae Sound Systems and more on the way!

Big love fam ❤️

Indian Yoga Teacher Vini on Reggae & Sound System 🇮🇳

-

This is our longtime friend and supporter @vini_yasa , who is a yoga teacher and in my own humble oppinion the number one dancer in our Sound System sessions!

@prithvi.chahal was interviewing her to get an understanding of how Reggae & Sound System Culture feels, seems and works for a woman who is also deeply involved with Yoga and Spiritual Practises 🪷

I really love to hear the experiences & stories from people who have been supporting us from a long time, and especially from these spiritual aspects ❤️

In another part of this innerview she is explaining how @10000lionssoundsystem was the first Reggae Sound System that she experienced in her life and that it affected her very positively 🦁

-

Our journey as Indias first active Reggae Sound System has been an full spectrum growth process!

We are first and foremost humans and we do make mistakes, say the wrong things sometimes, argue over BS stuff and more, but i know that as every year go by - we do less and less of the bad and more and more of the good.

I feel that there is a kind of a confusion to who is “righteous” and “godly” within the Reggae & Sound System Scene.

Where some people feel that they are more righteous because they play Reggae instead of Techno, or they shout Rastafari instead of Jesus Christ, Shiva, or Buddah - whereas my own understanding of the world and its people is that we are all HUMANS before any titles, belief systems, spiritual convictions, religion, race, caste or class.

We all suffer from ego and artists most likely have even more Ego than others…

A good human being means more than any titles or any spiritual bla bla 🌞

-

Reggae music teaches us to be more loving, more rebellious, more honest with ourselves, how the world really operates, how to take care of ourselves, the communities we live in, the world, correct history, equal rights and justice, black liberation, human liberation, freedom + more and it is a tool by the people for the people 🇯🇲🏆🇯🇲

-

Do we have any more Yoga Teachers / Practicioners who would like to add a few words in the comments? 🎶

Rastaman playing Rasta music in Goa Market 🇮🇳🪷🇯🇲

-

Check the vibes from when @ezekiahrose brought his Guitar to the Mapusa Market in Goa to play some Rasta Reggae Music for the people working there 🇯🇲

What a vibe when Jamaica meets India 🇮🇳🙏🇯🇲

This was the first time Ezekiah travelled outside of Jamaica and he directly came to Goa (after a 60 hours flight 🥶).

-

Jamaica and Goa is two very different places, different people, culture, music and more - but there are also some similarities between the two places!

There is alot of connection between India and Jamaica and i highly recommend you to check it out 🎶

“The first Rasta (according to many) Leonard Howell: “There is even evidence connecting Howell personally to Indian culture. The Institute of Jamaica material says Howell grew up around a significant Indian population and was thought to have been influenced by them. It specifically describes him adopting the title Ganganguru Maragh, a Hindu-derived title.”

“The National Library of Jamaica explicitly identifies curried dishes as part of the Indian contribution to Jamaican heritage. It also identifies rice as an Indian-origin influence in Jamaican cuisine”

“Indian indentured workers brought cannabis culture and the word “ganja” to Jamaica in the 19th century. A historical report from the U.S. Office of Justice Programs states that cannabis was brought to Jamaica in 1845 by indentured labourers from India, who called it ganja.

But cannabis itself was not necessarily unknown in Jamaica before Indians arrived. Research indicates marijuana may have already grown on the island, while Indian migration helped introduce or strengthen particular uses, terminology and ritual associations”

Recording Jamaican Reggae Artist in Goa - India 🇮🇳❤️🇯🇲

-

Here is a little behind the scenes vibes from when @ezekiahrose was recording some dubplates for projects around the world, this specific one is a verse from one of our tunes called UNSTOPPABLE 🦁

The studio was running HOTTTTT this year and we’re planning to release allooot of it in the coming time 🎶

-

I’m on the way to UK right now for @boomtownfairofficial and we come loaded with fresh new music!

2 new riddims minimum and God Willing another riddim will come back from mix and master before the show 🚨

One of the riddims is a Bom Baf but in a Ethiopian Jazz style aka Ethiopian Bom Jahzz with @shamso.saxoud on sax and Ezekiah on vocals 👀

The other tune is a Reggae hip hop fusion riddim that i built with @dan_i_locks called Sound System Culture🏆

The third one that we hopefully get ready aswell is a kind of a Reggae Rock Bom Baf ultra peculiar riddim that i again built with @dan_i_locks and SAMI on guitar and @ico_flamez on vocals and written by @real.memzay 🦁

Extremely excited for this upcoming show and to also watch Aba Shanti for the first time is going to be EPIC!

Thanks again for all the love and support ❤️🙏🦁

Marcus Garvey Tribute in Indian Jungle 🇮🇳

-

One of my favourite rootical Reggae tunes by @ezekiahrose , a tribute to the great Marcus Garvey 🇯🇲

Marcus Garvey was a hugely important pan-Africanist, who had the vision to take Black people who been taken from their homeland and bring them forward to Africa again through the Black Star Liner 🏆

The story and life of Marcus Garvey is truly magnificent, inspiring and also motivating!

His journey was definately not easy and the amount of hardships he went through is insane 👀

He also prophecized about Haile Selassie in his speech: “Look to Africa, when a Black king shall be crowned, for the day of deliverance is at hand.”
Ten years later, Haile Selassie became emperor of Ethiopia, and many people saw this as the prophecy coming true 🇪🇹

A real HERO 🇯🇲❤️🏆

-

Some of his journey:

Founded the Universal Negro Improvement Association (UNIA) in 1914 to promote Black unity, pride, and economic independence.

Garvey later expanded the organization in the United States, where it became a major movement for Black nationalism and Pan-Africanism.

Encouraged Black people to build their own businesses and communities rather than depend on white-controlled institutions.

Promoted Pan-Africanism and the idea that people of African descent around the world should unite.

Published the newspaper Negro World to spread his ideas.

Became one of the most influential Black political leaders of the early 20th century.

Some of what he faced:

Racism and discrimination, especially in the United States.

Government surveillance and hostility from the FBI, which considered him a threat.

In 1922, Garvey was convicted of mail fraud related to the Black Star Line - as i remember he was set up for this and not his own action (pls correct me if im wrong here)

He was imprisoned and later deported to Jamaica in 1927

-

I can highly recommend to check out Marcus Garvey story - it’s not only for Rastas , even if he is a very important figure to them.
This story is phenomenal for anyone to know 🇯🇲

Goa - the Indian Capital of Reggae & Sound System 🇮🇳

-

Tune: India to Jamaica - @fikiramlak777 & us

-

Welcome to our weekly (during season) Reggae Sound System Session at @twice_in_nature_arambol in Arambol 🙏

We are extremely grateful and honored to have built up these amazing sessions in Goa 🦁

Now we have 350-500 people in each of our events, EVERY SATURDAY, making them by far the most popping and biggest regular Reggae Sound System sessions in India and maybe even in Asia? 🔥

-

It wasnt always like that though…

When we started in 2015, we used to play STRICTLY roots / rockers from the 70s.

For the first years of this project we were struggling to get people in the dance and more problem to keep them in the dance!

The music was working up until the late nights where people wanted something more modern and energetic…

After struggling for many years and blaming everything except for ourselves for the failures, we decided to start play some Steppa/uk dub 👀

This was when it CLICKED!

And we realized fast that:
INDIA LOVES STEPPA MUSIC 🏆🇮🇳❤️

I became the person in charge of researching and digging steppa tunes.

We were the first to introduce both Jamaican Reggae Music and UK DUB Music to India with an actual Sound System and since then our journey has been one of a kind!

-

To move from Europe to India to invest our lives into this music was the best decision ever 🔥

It did not come easy though - which today i am thankful for, since a rough journey makes for a great story and it will teach you things very differently than if your story has been given to you and paid for by others 🔆

I’ve played more than a 1000 shows in INDIA alone and that has given me a massive amount of Experiencre, Skills and knowledge - which would have been impossible if i played a few times per year.

-

A few years ago I was collecting donations in a hat.

Now i am touring the world, running a record label and we keep pioneering the movement in India - THANK YOU 🇮🇳

Still we’re just getting started! 🚨

Dream big and ignore haters 🦁

Reggae music inspires to more than good message! 👀

-

Yes fam today we have a very special episode for yall!

This is a snippet from our happiest days as 10000 Lions, when me @ninjah396 and @petah.sunday finished our project to give around 500 underprivileged children in India music instruments and fund a music teacher for them!

We managed to do this through the help of the entire WORLD 🥹

Producers, Bands, Singers, musicians and artists from all over the world donated one (or more) of their unreleased tunes to our project MUSIC 4 ONENESS, so that we could sell theirs and our own music - where ALL the 💰 went to the children!

10 euro per digital wav and our fellow humans within the human community decided that they would make this happen!

Many times people would pay even 3 times more than the requested price 🤯

We raised a whopping 6000 Euro for the children of @elshaddai_childrescue - Goa - India by selling digital dubplates 🇮🇳

We have continued the same winning concept in Jamaica - where we have bought (if i remember correctly) 7 Guitars & 7 djembes and now we are aiming to buy 2 wireless mics + a drumkit for the children of Trench Town.

We are collaborating with the great @officialaltonellis nephews @astonrobot and @blakkaellis - who through their BECCA Foundation are teaching children music for free in Trench Town 🇯🇲

-

What we and many others feel is that Reggae is nowadays mainly a fantasy that sounds nice to listen to but then when it actually comes to working together and building something positive for the children or the world we live in - there is but a fraction of people in the scene that are into that or even wants to support something like that 🤷‍♂️

Many people build their whole life around this music but somehow fail to implement the essence of it…

The message is extremely important and can be the catalyst for change BUT the WORK i personally consider more important and that’s something that we all can do much more of ❤️

Swedish Reggae Producer with Jamaican Rasta Artist in India 🇮🇳

-

Next episode bring us forward to the 10000 Lions Studio aka Dub Akhara Studio aka RUFF GONG studio in Goa - India 🇮🇳

This time we get to hear some jokes and preparations for @goasunsplash and some reasonings with @ninjah396 and @ezekiahrose 🔆

-

At the moment in a country with 1.5 billion people in it, there are just a few Indian Reggae Singers, producers and even selektas.

We love to see more Indian Reggae artists rising up aswell and it is also something that we try to push/train Indian friends of ours to become singers, selektas & producers!

Right now @sukanya.music is an Indian Female Reggae Artist that is really impressing with her focus, dedication and sheer amount of recordings for different projects - the latest being their single ”MAYA” with @obfsoundsystem and @tigerdubs 🇮🇳

Another Indian Dub producer to keep your eyes on is bhaiji @indraa.jeet 👀🦁🦚

-

I learned alot from Ezekiah when it comes to Reggae Music, Rasta, Jamaican Culture and more!

It was really an experience to spend more or less everyday in the studio for 2,5 months! 🦁

I could also show him what i know about the Steppa / UK Dub style of music.

When we combined our knowledge - some really unique and powerful music came out of it! 🔆

-

It was the first time Ezekiah went outside Jamaica and to go from Jamaica on a 60h flight through Panama, Turkey, Mumbai and then to land in Goa and reach to Arambol is what i would say to step outside of your comfort zone kinda radically! 🦚

There were so many things that was nice to see him experience for the first time - like cows in the street, the different temples, culture, music, people and so much more!

The reason to why we had the opportunity to bring him to India is because of all the love and support that you keep showing us.

With that we can expand, grow and provide musical experiences that India hasnt seen before 🇯🇲
