My most asked question, which makes sense as every designer is different! I offer one singular, effective, all-inclusive package: THE BRANDING EXPERIENCE, BABY! ✨ The package contains two parts: 1. Strategy 2. Design I don’t do one without the other. Why? Without strategy, design is simply based off trends, aesthetics, and personal preference. You may be wondering, what’s wrong with that? Chris & I went to Maine for our honeymoon 🦞🩷 and I find Maine so inspiring every time. Obviously the scenery, but also the natural curation of things… buoys, gallery walls, even the food feels thoughtfully put together. It really fuels my creativity. I can see why many artists find themselves up there! What’s your favorite of these Maine-inspired palettes? I think mine is the Lobster Tank, because it was such an unexpected place to find one 😂 taken in Northeast Harbor, Maine by @designbyjrs

Meet the new Shmayley’s 🍒 What started as a little ice cream dream in the Hamptons has turned into something sweeter than I ever imagined. From soft serve and celebrations to creative brand experiences and everything in between, Shmayley’s has grown into so much more than its original scoop. And now, we finally have a look to match! We’ve been dreaming up this rebrand for a long time, and bringing it to life with the insanely talented @designbyjrs has been the cherry on top. She just gets it. The colors, the personality, the little details... everything I hoped for and more. New look, new possibilities, same mission: making people happy. A behind-the-scenes look at how we built the new brand for Shmayley’s! A restored vintage trailer offering customizable (& delicious) event experiences 💞🍦🍒☕️ We started with brand strategy, AS ONE SHOULD... And with our 19-page strategy document as our guiding star, I developed two stylescapes that would be irresistible to their audience. The chosen stylescape best reflected Shmayley’s— playful, but elevated. Using the strategy doc & chosen stylescape, I began developing ideas for logos, patterns, and illustrations in my sketchbook. It was clear that the brand needed a handmade logo that’s as unique as the Shmayley’s experience itself. I brought this to life from a sketch, to a digital drawing on my iPad, to detailed refinement in Illustrator. Colors were carefully curated, fonts chosen with painstaking thoughtfulness. Patterns and illustrations were all drawn by hand. Love poured into every dang detail by two girls who care about this brand on a personal level (one because she owns the business, one because the trailer was going to be at her wedding lol). We CANNOT wait to share the final look with you all. But in the meantime, here’s just a taste. 😉🍨 by @designbyjrs

Mawwied!!!! 💍🌊🐚 On 9.10, JRS became Julia Milia (but always JRS at heart). I walked down the aisle to this exact song. 🥲 Our wedding was an incredibly beautiful day, put on by a dream team of my clients!: 📸 @tayloreneephotos on the Camera! I’ve worked with Taylor on her brand for many years and knew I had to fly her in from ol Okie because only she would be able to capture the color & magic of the day. And clearly, she did (curse Insta for only allowing 20 images)!! Even though it was our first time meeting in person, Taylor felt like a close friend and was my right hand (wo)man all day. 📋 @hayleygoldevents as the Planner! A month or so before my wedding, in the throes of chronic illness & dealing with my venue double-booking us, I threw in the towel and hired a planner. Hayley is so smart, and saved my ass 57 times, whether it was tablecloths, vendor meals, Toni transport, etc. 🌼 @theflowershopct on Florals! My best friend of 25 years & also a branding client hehe! Absolutely transcended my vision of beachy/Italian/funky florals. Drove all over tarnation in a U-Haul and made me TWO bouquets. 🍦 @shmayleys on Dessert! Before she was my planner, Hayley reached out to do a trade: her ice cream trailer at my wedding, in exchange for a rebrand. The affogato bar ended up being my favorite part of my wedding! A lil birdie said that singular image posts are back 💓🐦‍⬛ (it’s me, I’m the birdie). A few of my faaaavorite fem-powered color palettes that I’ve curated! For three brands, with three very different personalities! And yes, of course I name all my colors. A girl didn’t get a dual Creative Writing/Graphic Design degree for nothing. NEW SITE 🌊✨ for @sheasmithdesign! Elegant! Relaxed! Some would say sexy! Erin’s old website is the reason she decided to rebrand with me in the first place. It lacked the character & warmth that you see in her design style. The new site is an artful experience, where refined typography interacts with large, splashy photos. Texture, patterns, little illustrations, and soft animation add enough character without overshadowing her stunning work. Let me take you on a logo journey 🦄☁️ hop aboard my unicorn! No jk 😂 the starting font for Taylor Renee’s logo was already soo beautiful, but it didn’t allow me to stack the two names— that doesn’t mean we throw the whole font away! I customized the font so that the letters interact with each other, the gap between the two names closed, and the apostrophe was more intentional, resulting in an overall more harmonious layout. Taylor loved the customization, and her feedback to redefine the subtitle to “vintage romance” instead of “retro” was a strategic call that I totally agree with!! Feedback is nothing to be afraid of, my friends! In fact, I find a bit of alternative perspective always makes for better design. by @designbyjrs

Let’s brand a Hamptons interior designer together! 🐚⛲️ I was ELATED when my lovely neighbor Erin hired me to redo her brand. And even moreso when she had no edits!!! 🌞 In these instances where the client approves the brand on the first shot, I like to offer the option to create more. In this case, we ended up having the time to create even more illustrations— which you can see on the business cards. Go follow @sheasmithdesign!!
