Meet Our Founder: Rikki Raiford (@designerswank) •WHO AM I: I was born and raised in St.Louis, MO to a large family with 6 aunts/uncles and over 30 cousins. • WHO INSPIRES ME: I loved admiring my mom’s love for apparel and she always had the best designer shoes/handbags. I started at Nike in February of 2020, two months before covid. I arrived to Portland on a Saturday night after living in Brooklyn for 2.5 years not knowing what to expect. I was only three years into my career and had already worked two years as a menswear design assistant at the menswear house, an assistant technical designer at DKNY sport , and a fashion assistant at Interview magazine. Before graduating from SCAD, I somehow always ended up in NYC every summer to intern. I didn’t care if it was paid or not, I just wanted the experience. I always knew what it would take, and I never took no for an answer. That’s how I was raised, that anything is possible if you work for it & keep God at the center of your life and plans. After 5.5 years (1.5 at Nike, the rest at Jordan Brand) I’m officially leaving corporate apparel design and stepping into a new role, Executive Stylist at Nike,Inc. Over the course of these 5 years I’ve learned so much about myself: who I am as a designer, who I am as an entrepreneur, what I wanted out of my career and my life. Thank you to my mentors, directors, and hundreds of team mates I’ve encountered over the years. I’m so grateful that God has placed me into a brand new world, it’s vastly different but perfect for me. If you are close to me, you understand how big this moment is. God always saves the day for me. by @designerswank
