Our Upper Nyack project filling in nicely. We integrated sustainable solutions to extreme water shed via burms, rain gardens and collection methods via True Grid paving systems. We had such an incredible experience collaborating with Melissa on her landscape design transformation 🪻

From our Landscape Plan and accompanying design boards, to then hand selecting perennials at @pleasant_run_nursery resulted in a West Coast Modern redesign to cherish and enjoy.

The creative process and how we execute from start to finish, all while enjoying the daily experience of coming home to a memorable journey to the entry.

Reminiscent of last years design, and seeing how everything grew this following year, gave such a different feeling of joy. It’s a frequent place for photo shoots these days 💃🏻

Creating a space with circulation & flow 🌸

Incorporating an organic, flowing and whimsical approach to the design with sweeps of native perennials. Pollinator plants and ornamental grasses are positioned against tight yew hedges.

Neat and tidy plantings around the bluestone terrace are juxtaposed against the upper meadow. An under utilized area, now rewilded with a native plant palette.

Strategically placed Amelanchier trees guide you to the al fresco dining area, creating an intimate experience.

Our process as shown, creates a whimsical yet functional space for our clients to enjoy through many seasons to come.

A collaborative landscape project coming into its own after several years of proper aging. Inspired by the West Coast mid- century breeze block walls that add light privacy with architectural interest.

Our client wished to screen the entry from the street while creating a casual sitting area under a mature sycamore tree. We used a local light color brick to create the structure of the outdoor room and replaced the lawn with a rewilded native planting garden.

The stroll to the backyard is complete with a fern loving bioswale that alleviates flooding during heavy rains.

A similar approach using an elevated patio / breeze block combo(on the same elevation as the interior first floor) …creating intimacy and screening from neighboring homes. The shift in elevations creates two separate sitting areas for dining and lounging while surrounded by simple native screening and a minimalist fence. Fleur de lawn replaces the common lawn allowing for infrequent mowing and Spring time sprinkles of mini flowers.

Grateful to have such an amazing client who truly understands to evolution of a garden and has us come back to subdivide, transplant, re-plant and tweak the landscape 🌱

“Behold, my friends, the spring is come; the earth has gladly received the embraces of the sun, and we shall soon see the the results of their love” Sitting Bull

We all know when the first signs of spring are around us… tiny sprouts of green emerging in the moss, bulbs peeking out from the dark, rich earth such as galanthus, iris reticulata and the classic narcissus. The ice and snow has melted and springs and stream run rampant. The animals play in the slightly warmer waters. It’s a beautiful time … enjoy every minute of it 🌸 by @designfarmgroup
