Tangle is an interactive lamp for a home space that enables users to define the meaning of „enough light“ in their spaces. It enables a tactile interaction through rotation pushing back against the de-materialization of touch. The construction of the lamp increases tension and resistance to physically express an increase in brightness. The wires it is suspended by tangle during rotation, creating tension, thus the feedback. A clockwise rotation increases brightness and an anticlockwise rotation dims brightness. To lock the light brightness, you simply push the light towards the back structure, where it magnetically attaches, holding the tension and brightness in place. To switch off the light, you simply push the light away from the frame and watch it detangle. by @designmaybe

Part of the process. The pillow is 3D printed using transparent TPU. The softness and diffusion is controlled by experimenting with different support styles and material density. Also my first time vibe coding, using microcontrollers and sensors. New skill unlocked. Big thanks to @nicolas.caro for a crash course in pattern making for the pillowcase.

Lucent Pillow is a wall mounted light that resulted from a thought experiment around how we interact with light and objects in our surroundings. It attempts to close the gap between the light and a switch through an understanding of human affordances and playful design. It emphasises on physical feedback in a more digitally flattened society, encouraging slower paced rituals on a daily basis.

Floorlamp, found materials. Made a light reactive canvas that detects presence. NFCs on the lamp takes you to a page that asks you to write a note guessing where each component was of the lamp was found. To be left outside to spark curiosity and childish wonder.

Beyond the Bin. @instamarriott2.0 inspired
I made a sculptural luminaire out of a discarded dustbin I found on the side of the street while hobbling back home from the pub. This portal bin aims to provoke thought about whether the people throwing their things away know where their scrap goes and the hidden value of their discards. Sketched the vision I had for it and it was fairly simple to assemble. @rcagraddip @fazrazjazz (model)

Scrap Puzzles I did, at the time it was a fascination to collect what most would deem trash and re-interpret. The playful whimsy started here. Love me some found objects. @rcagraddip

I got the idea for this stool when i saw toothpicks in a box twisted and resting in their natural state. I explored how wire can naturally build strength and it’s capacity to bear large forces. Went material hunting to a scrapyard and found industrial cross country cable and got them cut to size. Stayed true to the brief and didn’t use a single other tool.

Tensile Rest explores tension and balance through upcycled aluminum cables bound by wire. 1/3

The pliers, fixed to the wound binding, act as both a tool and a keystone, holding potential energy in place. The form emerges from the cables’ natural resting state, capturing a moment of motion suspended in time. The resulting structure is dense, creating a surprisingly solid place to sit.
.
Won the award for making the stool most likely to lead to questioning by RCA security. They thought it was a bomb?
