What if saying no to more projects actually made you a better designer?

Six interior designers share how they’ve rethought their businesses, from choosing projects more intentionally to setting boundaries that give them more time to focus on the work they love.

Fewer projects, stronger profits, and more room for creativity.

See how these designers are doing things differently at the link in our stories.

Beyond the Portfolio: How Designers Build Visibility Through Storytelling and Sourcing
Sunday, October 18th - 12:00 pm – 1:00pm
Today’s most memorable design work is not defined only by beautiful rooms, but also by the stories behind them. This conversation will look at how designers use antiques, vintage pieces and collectible artistic objects to build a stronger point of view, and how those sourcing choices can shape the way a project is presented to clients, editors and the wider design community. The discussion will explore what makes a project story feel distinctive, how designers can communicate the value behind what they source, and why rooms with history, craft and cultural context often create stronger opportunities for visibility beyond the finished photos.
Speakers: Dilara Tuncer, Rachel Fasciani and Jourdan Fairchild #hpadc #hpmkt taken in Antique & Design Center of High Point by @designnewsnow

The story begins: "About seven years ago, on my first trip to KBIS, I became aware of a blonde force of energy I would come to know as “V.” Designers hung on her every word, then swirled around her afterward, eager for a moment of her time. Many called themselves Designhounds, members of the influential community Veronika Miller had created. I was fascinated by her pull."

Fast forward...
- V and I have dedicated time together in High Point.
- HPxD is invited to take part in the new series of Designhounds Bootcamps.
- I get entree to her current musings and turn that into a story for Design News Now.

We took some time exploring Litchfield, Connecticut, and found plenty to love.

At The Abner, a former courthouse has been thoughtfully transformed into a boutique hotel, giving the historic building a completely new life while preserving its character.

A short drive away, Winvian Farm offers its own take on country hospitality. Set across 113 acres in the Litchfield Hills, the family-owned resort brings together imaginative cottages, beautiful grounds, farm-to-table dining and a strong sense of place.

And no design trip to Litchfield would be complete without Sister Parish Design, where one of the most recognizable names in American decorating continues to evolve through its iconic patterns, colors and prints.

Three stops that capture what makes Litchfield so special: history, creativity and design that feels right at home in the countryside.

Forget one “Color of the Year.” Designers are using all of them.

From sunny yellows and earthy greens to saturated blues, rich reds and even purple, designers are embracing color in bigger, bolder and more personal ways. And it’s not stopping at an accent wall. Color is taking over cabinetry, upholstery, wallpaper, tile and entire rooms.
