I rarely ever post anything on Instagram but I’m hoping the rare times I do, like this one, it finds its way to make a difference as intended. Liko is my niece by long time friendship with her Mama Kawehi. She’s an amazing young woman, young mommy, older sister and sometimes comedian. Her spirit lights up the room when she enters and she’s gorgeous inside and out. by @designsbycan_d

My last name at birth, Wai, as a kid it was constantly being teased “Wai, ‘cause I like know”....ugh. However, oddly enough, I always felt curious about all kine tings. I love my excursions every now and then going to the thrift store, sifting through the many things people discard for whatever reason. Sometimes I tell silent stories in my head about the journey this thing might have had and the possibilities of where it now can go. The excursion itself gives me a mental break from my work story to a story yet to be imagined. This kimono will probably get reincarnated into something else...I’ll post a pic if it does. Regardless, it is just too pretty to not share it somehow. by @designsbycan_d

Today’s inspired project: Aloha shirt into tote bag.
.....Reminiscing about places and things from my younger days. “Memba dat store”, my Pops would take me to Liberty House to buy the latest trendy outfit. Rise!!!! Healing through art projects has always been my saving grace when I feel defeated or sad.
