A 2-room Flexi in Woodlands, and the dog living there got almost as much say in the design as the owner did.

We kept the palette dark and moody through the living area and bedroom, balanced with warm wood tones so it never tips heavy. Black cabinetry in the kitchen, a sage green sofa against the window, built-ins doing most of the work in a flat this size.

The details are where it actually shows. A pet corner built into the living space. Steps built into the bed frame so the dog gets up on his own. A portrait of the two of them, painted and hung like it belongs there.

When this family lost their dog, the brief wasn't about layout. It was about keeping a part of him in the home.

Dark monochrome, wood contrast, and a layout built around a love for dogs.

In this 2-room HDB Flexi in Woodlands, the TV console was given an open base so the family's dogs always have a spot to climb into. The bedroom holds the rest of the build: platform bed, full wardrobe, desk, and paintings on the wall made from old photos of a dog the owner lost.

The brief was dark, black, moody, and simple. The trick with dark is contrast, so we balanced it with lighter wood to keep it warm instead of heavy.

The kitchen carries the same language. Dark laminates, a touch of light wood to lift it, and with a tighter budget, every choice had to earn its place.

Most of the build sits in the bedrooms. Platform bed, full wardrobe, a work desk, all built in. Walls are lime washed for texture, and the whole thing was done within a month, ready to move in.

This homeowner's guest room isn't for people. It's for their friends' dogs.

Whenever someone travels, their dog ends up staying here, so what started as a two-room flat slowly became something closer to a pet hotel.

We built an open TV console with its own sleeping spot built in, in materials durable enough to take daily wear and easy enough to wipe down after. Designed with the dogs in mind, not as an afterthought.

Four ideas, four different rooms, one home that actually makes sense to live in.

An arched nook turns a dead wall into extra seating and storage. An L-shaped desk tucks a full workspace into a corner without eating up the room. A back-lit headboard makes a plain wall feel intentional instead of empty. And a walk-in closet comes with its own vanity, so getting ready no longer means bouncing between two rooms.

None of these are complicated. They're just the kind of decisions that only get made when someone actually thinks about how a space gets used. by @designtfosj

Warm minimalist doesn't mean plain. It means every choice in this maisonette earns its place, from the mustard sofa that softens the neutral walls to a kitchen counter that turns into a workspace when needed.

He used to sleep in the living room. Today, he finally has a room of his own. 🏠
When we first met this family, they had previously received a renovation estimate of around $60K, which felt out of reach for them. So instead of asking them to stretch their budget, we looked at how we could make their home work better with what they had.

By rethinking the existing layout, we created an additional bedroom for their son, a new storeroom, a functional kitchen and refreshed the rest of the home, bringing down the renovation cost to around $37K.

The biggest transformation wasn’t the new flooring, carpentry or lighting. It was giving everyone in the family a space they could finally call their own. 🤍 Because sometimes, you don’t need a bigger home. You just need a better plan.
