We finally have a completed dress! ✂️🖤

I can’t believe this dress is no longer just a sketch or a pattern piece on my sewing table - it’s now a wearable garment. 🤭📍

I am so pleased with the fabric and fit. I found this gorgeous cotton shirting from @wearethefabricstore and it suits the dress so beautifully. 👏🏼

I’m really excited to get onto the patchwork element next. I can’t believe we only have one more part of the series left. It has gone by so quickly! 📆🍃

I finally have a finished cardigan shell! I am so pleased with how the front panels turned out! 🧶📍

It was definitely a feat to replicate all of the stripes and match them to the back panel, but I think I did a really good job! 〰️

Seeing it all stitched together makes me even more excited to start on the sleeves. We are officially on the downhill slope to a finished cardigan! 👏🏼🧵

We have a finished toile! 🤭👗

I finally finished drafting the skirt pattern for the dress. I ended up making two toiles - the first in calico and then another in poplin.

The poplin toile had the best drape for this kind of skirt and created the most gorgeous gathers, so I think I’ll go with a lighter weight cotton for the final dress. 〰️✂️

Now we are onto my favourite parts, choosing the fabric and then experimenting with our patchwork appliqué! 📍🧵

The best crafty projects are always the ones that use materials I already have in my stash! ♻️👏🏼

This DIY was the perfect way to brighten up my old noticeboard that was in need of some love. A little piece of gorgeous fabric really does go a long way! 📌✂️

I think my favourite part has to be the button pins. It was such a simple craft but the results were as cute as a button! 🤭📍

The simplest DIYs are sometimes the most transformative and this fabric noticeboard is proof! 📌🗓️

I used some @ikea_australia fabric from my stash and an old noticeboard that had been sitting in my studio in need of some love. I think my favourite part is the little button pins I made with the help of my hot glue gun! 📍🤭

It’s amazing what a little fabric from your stash can do! Have you ever tried covering something with fabric? 👋🏼This has inspired me to try more DIYs with my staple gun! ♻️

My bodice toile is finished and here is my progress so far! 🪡🧵

I managed to draft my block into a more fitted bodice, and I won’t lie, it was not an easy feat! It took about five attempts to get it right, but eventually the instructions clicked and it all came together. ✂️♻️

I’ll need to make some adjustments like adding boning for more structural support, but the next step is to draft my skirt and I’m really excited about that! 🤭👗

I have one month to make my dream little black dress with a quilted motif! ✂️📍

I’m also challenging myself to draft my own pattern. I’ve drafted my own bodice block which took a bit of learning, but I’m really pleased with how the fit is coming together. The next step is to draft a more fitted bodice from this block. 👗🧵

A new month means a another project list and August has some exciting ones! 🧵📋

I’m preparing to sew a dress for an upcoming event and I thought I’d bring you along for the journey. I’ve done a rough design and since I’ve been wanting to expand my pattern drafting skills, this feels like the perfect opportunity.✂️🤭

Progress in art looks different to progress in sewing and this month really showed me that! 🗓️✂️

Sewing has much quicker visual milestones, but with art I’m keeping myself accountable by noting every change - even the smallest shifts are part of the process. 🌱♻️
