A finished lower level, designed around everything they always wanted room for.

A bar to gather at. A cellar for the collection. A simulator for the rounds that never fit the calendar.

Some homes save their best ideas for downstairs.

Which space would you claim first?

Powder room design, considered down to the hardware. Save this for your own remodel. #IDCdesign #PowderRoomDesign #VesselSink #NaturalStone #CincinnatiInteriorDesign by @designwithidc

Living room design with a stone fireplace at its center.

Pale stone, dark stained millwork, and a coffered ceiling that gives the height some structure. The furnishings stay soft and light so the architecture can lead.

What do you notice first?

Walk in pantry goals, fully stocked.

Real snacks. Real fridge magnets. Real life. The slow cookers have their own address, the platters are lined up like books, and the snack shelf sits exactly where it should.

This is what a considered pantry looks like when a family actually uses it.

The best outdoor living spaces borrow from the house itself.

Look closely at the dining table. A smooth top meets a rough hewn stone edge, echoing the facade. Soft rope chairs balance the weight of the stone. Black lanterns pick up the window frames. The fire pit repeats the stone once more.

One thing we always consider: a patio should feel like the next room, not a separate project.

Save this for your own backyard plans.

Entryway design is where every whole home conversation begins.

One thing we always consider: a foyer should introduce the home, not summarize it. Where most people go wrong is asking the entry to do too much. A few considered notes are enough. An arched iron railing, a sculptural fixture overhead, one piece of art with real presence. The eye has somewhere to land, and the rest of the house has room to reveal itself.

Vaulted great room design works best when the ceiling has something to hold onto.

Here, dark stained beams give the height structure. The brick fireplace rises all the way up to meet them, so the eye takes in the full height of the room instead of stopping at the mantel. Lit arched built ins bring warmth down to eye level, and the arched transom repeats that curve across the room.

One thing we always consider in a tall space: where the eye lands, and where it rests.

Save this for your next renovation. by @designwithidc

Twenty five years ago today, our nation changed forever. On September 11, 2001, we lost nearly 3,000 fellow Americans, and thousands of first responders answered the call with a courage that still defines that day.

Today we pause to remember the lives lost, the families who continue to carry that loss, and the first responders, past and present, who serve our community every day.

If you see a local firefighter, police officer, or EMS provider today, take a moment to thank them.

We invite you to share how you are honoring this day in the comments below. by @designwithidc

Blue finds its way through every corner of this suite, from woven texture on the bed to tile that catches the light in the shower to a marble vanity that keeps things quiet.

Consistency is the quiet luxury. Nothing here competes for attention.

The quiet decision in this kitchen: hide the appliances. Refrigeration, beverage drawers, and pantry access all disappear into the millwork, which lets the material do the talking. When nothing competes for attention, the whole room feels calmer and considerably larger.

The exterior tells you what to expect. Charcoal brick, cedar, black metal. Step inside and the same language continues in the beams, the railing, the hardware. Nothing here was decided in isolation

Lighting in a kitchen has to work on three levels: task, ambient, and the layer that carries the eye. Here the gilded lanterns do the last one, holding warmth above the stone while the recessed cans keep the work surfaces honest.
