One of the questions that made me pause felt like I was simply being asked to explain what I’ve been learning in design over my 4+ years in brand design and 2 years in UI/UX design.

(You work across diverse sectors—SaaS, e-commerce, health, and edtech. How do you adapt your design approach for such different industries, and what universal principles guide your work regardless of the sector?)

Here was part of my response:
“Every industry has its own unique style, goals, emotions, constraints and psychological impacts that I must adapt to in my design approach.…

That said, universal design principles guide my work regardless of the sector, and these are fundamental principles of design that remain consistent across different sectors; alignment, contrast, repetition, and proportion provide a consistent foundation, ensuring clarity and usability in every project.

I may thoughtfully bend these rules based on specific goals. Typically, what varies across industries is the design elements, like typography and color.”

This reminds me of the amount of work I’ve put in to understand the fundamentals of design and its principles

They say a moving man will meet his luck, and I’ve been moving.

Last week tested the faith I have in my craft and in the growth I’ve been working toward. I took a bold step, and for some time and for reasons that matter, I’ll be away from my old workspace. I’ll miss it. The familiar rhythm, the people, the version of the work I knew there, it doesn’t leave easily.

Still, I’m genuinely grateful to God. For the guidance. For the care. For the direction, even when it came as correction. I don’t always get it right. I’m human, and humans misstep.

But the path has still been clear enough to follow.
The journey so far has been great, smooth, and stresstul - all at once. Some days it feels like progress is obvious.
Other days it feels like carrying more than you planned for.
Both can be true.

Today I’m choosing gratitude over the loop of overthinking.
Not because the stress isn’t real, but because anxiety doesn’t build the next chapter. Gratitude does.
It keeps me steady while I figure out what comes next. This week will be great.

I’m that Product Designer who leverages Al and not leave creativity for Al, if you are building a product that solve real user problems that you are proud of, either in diaspora, Lagos or anywhere in Nigeria. you need me in your team.
I’m squashing my goals and todo, just a DM away.

Hello, your UX design captain is typing...

One thing that changed how I design in Figma was understanding components as a Figma feature and as a core part of a UI.

A component is a reusable UI element.

Examples include a button, input field, dropdown, card, navigation bar, modal, etc.

Instead of designing the same button 20 times, you create it once and reuse it wherever you need it.

UI design is not just about creating one beautiful screen.

You’re designing a system.

If the same button appears across 15 screens, you want it to behave and look consistent across those screens, and when something changes?

You shouldn’t have to edit 15 screens manually.

That’s where components become really useful.

SO!. How do you use them well?

Start by identifying patterns in your design.

If something appears repeatedly or needs to maintain consistency, it probably deserves to become a component.

Then build it properly with variants, properties and sensible naming.

The goal isn’t to create components for everything.

The goal is to create reusable building blocks that make the product easier to design, scale and maintain.

That’s where Figma components become more than just a feature.

They become part of your design system. by @designwithmrprime
