Six knee surgeries later….
I still can’t run.
My knee still hurts.
And I wasn’t entirely sure my body was ready for this.
So naturally…I booked a 26-day solo trip 😂
I thought I was going to test my knee.
Turns out, I was testing a lot more than that.

Getting My Pink Back 🌸
This is just the beginning

sorry not sorry about all the wedding spam 😝 but I’m having almost as much fun reliving these moments as I did during the real thing 🤍Here are my top 3 reasons to get married in Oaxaca (though I could go on for days)

3️⃣ MEZCAL
I know there are a lot of mezcal haters out there (along with allegedly half our guests prior to coming to Oaxaca). But what they quickly learned is that the mezcal in Oaxaca is far superior to what they are serving you at your local bar. We went through 50+ bottles over the weekend, just to give you an idea of just how much they loved it 👀

2️⃣ CALENDA:
The streets of Oaxaca were literally SHUT DOWN just for us to have this traditional Oaxacan parade. We kept the parade as a secret from our guests and it was THE PERFECT transition from emotional ceremony to turn up reception (and the shots of mezcal along the way def helped) 😅It was giving HBCU marching band in Oaxaca and I love that for me!

1️⃣ UNFORGETTABLE MEMORIES:
we are in that season of our lives where EVERYONE is getting married, so our friends have been to a lot of weddings. BUT we’ve had at least 20+ people tell us over the past couple of weeks that ours was the best wedding they have ever been to. If that’s not a compliment, I don’t know what is 🤍

My best encore, to date 😏

Grateful is an understatement 🙏🏾

I’m grateful for the outpouring of love, grateful for the physical and mental fortitude, grateful for the personal growth, and so so grateful for a second chance (s/o to @lsariacasting )

“If you have been called, you are worthy” was the headline of a keynote speech I gave several years back. I’ve spent too much of my life stalled by self-doubt, imposter syndrome, and maybe a tad too much self-awareness and humility. This season of @thechallenge forced me to dig deep, replace negative self talk with positive affirmations, and trust the process 🙏🏾

So if you’re on the fence about your capabilities, I urge you to write down a list of positive affirmations, make it a priority to say them OUT LOUD each and every day, and just watch how your life changes 💛

After nearly two weeks exploring Portugal’s southern coast, these are the places and experiences I’d happily do all over again.

Save this for your Algarve itinerary 🌊

Book a SMALL GROUP guided kayak excursion. We saw swarms of kayaks in large groups and they did not seem to be having nearly as much fun as we had

Go later in the day for beautiful light. You can enjoy viewpoints without committing to a long hike

Stand up paddle boarding at sunrise was magical

Learning to sail in Portugal was what initially inspired my trip, and @wttsailing made THE BEST sailing instructor

These views!?!? I mean, COME ON! 🤯

Restaurante F in Portimão had such thoughtful food creations, amazing service, and incredible views

After weeks of tasting pastel de nata, I can confirm Padaria Central had the best one in Old Town Lagos

I tried to walk back to this beach 2 hours later, and the water was too deep!

Some people go on vacation to unwind. I apparently go to collect new hobbies😂

Sea caves, a little exploring in Portimão, and my windiest sailing lesson—all in one day on Portugal’s Algarve coast⛵️🌊

Be honest: are you the relax by the pool traveler or the book every excursion traveler? 👀

Turns out, I’m pretty good company 😉✈️

First stop on my 26-day adventure: Portugal’s Algarve coast. And what a way to start. ☀️🌊

Would you ever book a solo trip, or are you waiting for someone to go with? 👀
