It’s officially been 1 year since I was introduced to the bachata community. From taking my first traditional bachata class with @itsmeangely back in January 2025 to then @karamellaxo___ convincing me to go to my first social in April 2025 which just so happened to be @dame.tu.pasito 1 year anniversary party. I’ve traveled to Miami with Dame to dance have plans of going to DR to dance bachata. I’ve met people who come from Boston, DC, FL, NC, Canada, Russia, Cuba, Spain, just to gather & dance bachata. Taken classes with @beverlylopezdance who is an expert on teaching how to take risks, feel free & have fun during your dances. This journey has been more than fruitful, it’s been exciting, breathtaking, & addicting! (Literally) I’ve met so many incredible people, artists, dancers, performers, & teachers along the way that have taught me so much. Being surrounded by people from all over the world who come to share one space to dance & sweat together is something that brings me so much joy. I’ve taken classes, watched performances, tried out imitation dancing, realized I know tipico & merengue? Trying to learn konpa and salsa. This community has opened so many doors that I didn’t even know existed. I’ve never felt so in tune with my latin culture. The feeling that these social gatherings give me is indescribable & I felt the need to share. Thank you to each & everyone of you who have made this space feel safe & free at the same time. I can’t wait to see all that the next year has to bring. 🫶🏽
