Athens spots worth saving for your next trip🫶🏼

If you’re planning a trip to Athens, save this one. These are some of my favourite spots for amazing food, good coffee and interiors that are just as good as what’s on the menu.

August appreciation 🤍

Weirdly, August was a month where I had a lot of work, but somehow, I also had everything that makes life feel full - family, friends, cats, dogs, sunrises, sunsets, long lunches, dinners, little moments and everything in between☀️

Sitting on the plane home, I found myself thinking about how lucky I am to have so many beautiful memories to look back on. And how easy it is to overlook the small things when life gets busy, even though, most of the time, those are the things that matter the most.

I don’t get to live this way all year round, and maybe that’s exactly why I appreciate it so much when I do.

So, here’s to soaking it all in while it’s happening - the people, the places, the food, the sunshine, the chaos, the quiet moments…all of it🤍

Things we did in Symi that we’d do all over again💙

☕️ Start the day with coffee from Nook — a lovely specialty coffee spot that quickly became part of our morning routine.

🥐 Pastries from Panormitis Bakery — because no Greek island morning is complete without a good pastry.

🕊️ Visit Panormitis Monastery — the monastery itself is beautiful, but the whole area surrounding it is incredible, especially with the beach right there.

🐐 Spend the day at Marathounta Beach — expect lots of very friendly goats wandering around… and if you’re lucky, turtles too. We got lucky swimming with one!

🚗 Rent a car for 1–2 days — you definitely don’t need one for your whole stay, but having a car for a couple of days gives you the freedom to explore the island at your own pace and reach places you might otherwise miss.

🍝 Eat Garidomakaronada — shrimp pasta is an absolute must when you’re on a Greek island

⛵️ Take the Poseidon cruise — one of our favourite days! It takes you to beaches you can’t reach by car, with breakfast, lunch, snacks and drinks included throughout the day. Honestly, so worth it.

🌅 Wake up early — one of the best things we did. The island feels completely different before the crowds arrive. We wandered around, visited the local markets and had some of our favourite quiet moments of the trip.

🚤 Use the water taxis — the easiest way to reach some of Symi’s beautiful beaches, including Agia Marina, Agios Nikolaos and Agios Georgios.

🌅 Stay for sunset — we watched the sunset from one of the fishermen’s houses and it was one of those simple moments that made the trip extra special.

🏘️ Walk up Kali Strata — 234 steps later, you’ll understand why it’s worth it. The beautiful old houses and views along the way make the climb so much more enjoyable.

🍊 Try the Portokalopita & Sokolatopita at Anais — they literally only sell these two desserts, and that’s it. We had to try both…obviously. taken in Symi Island by @despinachrr

Whether you’re into architecture, interiors, fashion, or simply beautiful spaces, Kyoto is full of places that inspire.

Temples & iconic spots ⛩️ • Kinkaku-ji – Kyoto’s famous Golden Pavilion, covered in gold leaf and reflected in a peaceful pond. • Kennin-ji – Kyoto’s oldest Zen temple, known for its tranquil gardens and stunning Dragon Ceiling artwork. • Seirai-in – A serene sub-temple of Kennin-ji, featuring an elegant White Dragon ceiling artwork, beautiful traditional interiors, and a tranquil garden. • Ginkaku-ji – The Silver Pavilion, loved for its minimalist aesthetic, moss gardens, and scenic walking paths. • Senbon Torii – The iconic pathway of thousands of vibrant red torii gates at Fushimi Inari. • Kiyomizu-dera – One of Kyoto’s most famous temples, offering breathtaking panoramic views over the city. • Hōkan-ji (Yasaka Pagoda) – Kyoto’s most photographed pagoda, especially beautiful at sunrise or sunset. • Fushimi Inari Forest – Wander beyond the main shrine to discover peaceful forest trails lined with torii gates.

Life feels all over the place right now, so I’ve been escaping back into my camera roll🇯🇵

Looking through these memories from Japan has been unexpectedly healing - the beautiful scenery, incredible food, and moments that felt like a dream.

Spent only half a day in Shanghai and I’m already fascinated by this city✨

A few things I noticed while we were there:

- People there really LOVE coffee! Shanghai is actually considered China’s coffee capital and you’ll find a coffee shop on almost every corner
- Everyone is taking photos and so many people actually have photographers with them😳
- The city has such a fast, energetic atmosphere
- Google barely works properly and most people use local apps for everything (paying, ordering food, navigating, etc) which definitely makes things a bit harder as a tourist

What I liked most was the contrast between the futuristic skyline and the more traditional side of the city. Shanghai feels modern, creative and constantly moving. One of those places where you could sit and people watch for hours🙌🏼 taken in Shanghai 上海外灘 by @despinachrr
