I (somehow) pulled off the heist of the year and made it back home to Arkansas for a week! My parents and grandparents had no clue I was popping in, and it was truly such a surprise for them and such a needed visit for me! Huge thank you to my brothers and my best friend Ireland for helping me pull it all off! My brothers helped me coordinate so they could all come home too and surprise my parents without suspicion! Ireland picked me up from the airport, housed me, and helped drive me around so we could surprise my family when they least expected it. This was such warm and cozy trip; Arkansas has a way of always welcoming me back like no time has passed. I spent 16 hours on 2 planes yesterday to fly back to the states and surprise my parents!!! They had genuinely NO clue! Shoutout to my brothers and my best friend for helping me plan this surprise and keep it a secret for the past month! Needless to say they were at a loss for words 😂🥹❤️

“Why do you travel so much?”
When I was 11 years old, I went on my first “solo” trip abroad to Canada. Despite being homesick, this 2 week trip changed the course of my life. I was no longer content with the everyday and mundane. I needed to see the world and all it had to offer. And I’m still riding that same high today, 15 years later. Here’s a little look back “then” that explains my “now.”

I don’t wanna get my hopes up dear, cause the summer’s gone and you’re still not here

The end of summer in Shanghai… what a summer it has been. Filled with many ups and downs, hellos and goodbyes… but through it all I’m just so so thankful to call this city home. I have the greatest friends in the world, and I don’t think I would’ve made it through this summer without them. From the start of summer, I’ve explored 6 new countries, made quite a few new friends, faced a few of my fears, accomplished things I’ve been putting off for months (or even years), felt love and felt loss, learned to live in the moment and find joy even in the midst of pain. I’ve read books, created music just for myself, exercised in new ways not for anyone else but simply to enjoy how it feels to be in my body. I’m learning to love myself again and that’s the biggest gift this summer has given me. As my second summer in China comes to a close, I can’t express enough how grateful I am for the people in my life who have never left my side through it all. I love you Shanghai and I love you summer 2026! Let’s see what the rest of the year has in store, shall we? ❤️

Xin chào, Sài Gòn 🇻🇳
3 days in Ho Chi Minh City to end the summer! We spent nights casino hopping and exploring downtown, as well as a couple excursions. We took a Mekong Delta tour down south to explore Chùa Vĩnh Tràng Buddhist Temple, as well as visited many islands and local villages in the river delta! After a sampan boat ride through the canals, we explored Ben Tre’s Coconut Village, as well as Unicorn Islet. We got to the locally harvested honey and tea, as well as many fruits, a traditional lunch, and traditional folk music for entertainment. We got to try coconut sweets and see how all the coconut products are harvested, as well as try some of their infamous snake wine… which was an experience 😂. The way of life in these villages was so intriguing to me and I loved seeing how resourceful they are with the land! Apart from this excursion, we spent more time in Ho Chi Minh and dined along the Saigon River. The next day we took another excursion out east to Ho Tram beach! We spent the whole day relaxing, eating, swimming, and enjoying the Vietnamese coast. This was such a relaxing beach/resort day and a nice reset from all the time we’ve been spending in cities lately. Our last day in Saigon we walked all over the city, exploring coffee shops, the Tan Dih Market/Church, Le Van Tam Park, the Opera House, and even the Notre Dame Cathedral (still under scaffolding).
Overall this was an amazing first visit to Vietnam for me. After I had to cancel a trip to HCM back in January, I can finally say that the wait was worth it! Vietnam, I’ll be back 🇻🇳
