Today, October 12, is Indigenous Peoples’ Day. This day carries special meaning in Madison; a city located on the ancestral homelands of the Ho-Chunk Nation. The Tribe’s enduring presence, cultural traditions and resilience continue to shape this community.

Continue the celebration and learning with The Teejop & Beyond: Celebrating Native Nations program, beginning Wednesday, October 14 at Goodman South Madison Library. The series will continue over the next few months at various @madisonpubliclibrary locations, focusing on traditional and contemporary Indigenous practices, stories and relationships.

POV: A vegetarian weekend in Madison looks like this 👀🌱

And honestly? I barely scratched the surface! Madison made it very easy to eat well as a vegetarian.👍🏼

Here are some highlights:

🍝 @palettegrill
Quite possibly one of the BEST cacio e pepe I’ve had! And, if the seasonal caramel apple cheesecake is still on the menu, get it.

🌱 @madisonveganfest
Such a fun afternoon, with Pad Thai + spring rolls from Thailand in a Truck and black cherry vegan ice cream from @chocolateshoppeicecream.

🌮 @jaliscomadison
Veggie enchiladas + a guava margarita, just steps from the Capitol. Yes, please.

🥞 @montysblueplatediner
An entire vegan section on the breakfast menu! The vegan pancakes and huevos rancheros with tofu scramble were both winners.

🍕 @ianspizzamadison
Obviously I had to try the famous mac & cheese pizza. And yes, it lived up to the hype.

🍺 @wisconsinunion
A giant pretzel, tater tots, drinks, live music and those views. The perfect place to spend a Madison afternoon.

And this was just ONE weekend.

Madison, I’ll definitely be back. There’s clearly a lot more veg food to eat. 😉

In partnership with @destinationmadison I spent a week exploring Wisconsin’s capital city and all they had to offer. As someone who travels a lot, it’s still amazing when I find places that capture so much of my heart in a short time. It won’t be my last visit to Madison.
