HAPPY HALLOWEEN from me and the dogs btw!!

I didn't have the energy to dress up, but I took Skye to the main Halloween streets for a socialisation / desensitisation walk, just like I did for Triton when he was a pup. We went early to avoid the craziest crowds and Skye did so well seeing so many strange things! The awesome @sesmosman plus kids in costumes and candy distributors all helped out by giving him the freeze-dried pumpkin treats I'd brought along. His favourite thing though, was a discarded apple from the apple-bobbing lol, watching it roll away down the street! 😆 Tried to get a selfie with him, but puppies gonna pup! XD

Triton didn't miss out btw! He actually went yesterday. Not so much action but plenty to look at. Some of these houses really go all out!

Thank you so much for last night! It was so good to finally get back on stage after my year of terrible luck. And despite that ridiculous sickness last month trying its best to sabotage me, I felt really good about my set and the way I turned my limitations around to actually make my show BETTER!! TAKE THAT, UNIVERSE!!!

If you weren't there, shenanigans you missed included:
- cutesy possessed Japanese girl screams and belly dances
- audience interaction feat. tissue attack
- PINKY 🔥😍🔥
- silk fans but metal and fiery
- mental health therapy session
- asexual awareness week at an adult event lmao
- free zines, tissue packs, and @rainbowdeathrayband CDs

What a way to farewell @moshpit.bar omg, this was only my second chance to play there, but they're legit part of my lore now: the venue that restarted my solo performance life, and the venue where I seriously evolved. I'll get some video up on YouTube once I've recharged a bit, it's instantly clear how much progress I've made! I feel so much more comfortable as a performer too, and I feel like I'm finally starting to work out what makes my show ME.

Thank you @thesoftmachineproductions for having me, it was a wild night! Really cool to finally see @zcluster0 again, it's been ages! Unfortunately my decision to delay my migraine shot to avoid a skin reaction finally caught up with me so I missed @cheapcoffins 😭 but thank you everyone for your concern, I went straight home, apologised to my dog for disobeying his curfew 😆 and got back on the meds. I'm feeling a lot better now.

Images:
1. My sticker is now on the Mosh bathroom mirror! For a good time not a long time.
2. PINKY YOU WERE AMAZING!!! Thank you for performing with me!!
3. Dishevelled migraine selfie before the face comes off haha.

Insert long list of thank yous including everyone who showed up, participated, took photos/videos - speaking of, I cannot WAIT to see what @emma__mees captured this time!! Love working with you!!

And of course, thank you MoshPit for everything!! x by @destroyermariko

Upcoming gig = hair refresh! I was good and stuck to my DestroyerMariko colours. This time we kept some length up front and got my synthies back in! Whether the synthies stay depends on how I go with migraines so we just did 4 DE's with a quick release method as a trial. I love having them back though, it's been a whole decade and I forgot how ME they feel! Cross fingers I can keep them. Thank you @escape_hair_newtown for another epic job and looking after me with my migraine warning signs and then me nodding off on meds and then helping wake me up with some green tea! I'm feeling a lot better now :)

Also what the heck how good are @blackmooncosmetics Moon Liners!? Finally cracked open my red eyeliner from @beserk and WOW. I wasn't expecting it to apply so easily with such epic colour? I put a bit of eyeshadow over to set it out of habit but I am super impressed! The black is Mecca Max and it's nowhere near as good, and absolutely needed the eyeshadow to get that dark. Excuse me while I put the black and white Moon Liners back in my wishlist omg.

Only a few more days until the show! Who will I see at @moshpit.bar on Friday night? Make sure you get in early, I'm on first! And I have random freebies for you! Ticket link in bio.

Phew, and now to get back to all the last minute things on my gig prep list... Sorry to my psychologist, I can't help overthinking and overdoing... 😅 maybe it's a good thing I don't perform so often these days haha ahh... I hope I won't look too stiff on stage, my ribs still complaining just getting up from the hair wash chair lmao what a journey this has been!! by @destroyermariko

Here's my art for the latest @mosmanartsocietyinc Small Work Art Show at @mosmanrowers - a piece that evolved a fair bit from my original vision but ended up being way more interesting.

⭐ Artwork details ⭐
Title: Sands of Gold
Material: Acrylic and gel ink on Wood Panel
Year: 2026
Size: 30cm x 30cm

I started work on it just before we got our new puppy, Skye, so already life was chaotic trying to fit it in... AND THEN I GOT RIDICULOUSLY SICK!!! 😵‍💫 Trying to get it finished in time forced me to scale back and alter my ideas to work around what little energy I had to keep going. I'm not a last-minute type of person, but I only got this one in on the evening of the very last submission day, and then literally an hour later was told to go immediately to hospital...! Had that call come earlier, I would have missed the cut-off!

Also tricky, this work is SO impossible to photograph! For some reason I'm currently obsessed with shiny sparkly paints and pigments. This thing looks different from every angle under every light source. Trying to take a photo without a ridiculous glare while still capturing the details is way beyond my skills and equipment...

This really is one you need to see in person. Right now that's at Mosman Rowers Archie Bear Café, until November 23.

Speaking of November, the ulterior motive behind this work will (hopefully) become clear on November 14. Can you guess why that might be? 🤭 The clues are there, if you're keen enough... 😉

SPEAKING OF SPEAKING, is this my first MAS exhibition as a Committee Member!? I've officially been introduced as the social media chick, grabbed the mic, resisted the temptation to scream into it, and let everyone know how I can help them. 😊 I now live in fear of being asked to run a workshop lmao.

1. Full sun photo I took the day I drove it down to the Rowers!
2. Artwork selfie ✌️
3. Installation shot
4. Installation close up
5. MAS Committee selfie
6. I'm super legit now :3
7. "Official" photo of the artwork I submitted just before going to hospital
8. SHINY lighting angle!! SEE WHAT I MEAN!?

2 weeks until my next show! Finally gave me the push I needed to make my first real promo video! I've never edited one of these before so let me know how I did and what I can improve on :)

@thesoftmachineproductions presents Flesh Rituals & Siren Songs VI, a mix of performance artists and industrial musicians, and a farewell to @moshpit.bar who are closing their doors for the last time in November 🥲 ticket link in my bio, please check the content warnings 🙏

This is going to be a really cool show! I'm still recovering from my terrible illness, but the upside of that limitation is it's given me a reason to try some new things, so I hope you can make it and see what I've been cooking up! I'm also really looking forward to @cheapcoffins and @zcluster0 and finally feeling sonically at home in a lineup too - in the past it's always been a mixed bag of open mics or metal bands haha, and as much as I love being the odd nut out, it's nice to finally belong a little more. I'm also really curious to see what the performance artists get up to! Who said gigs only have to be musicians? LET'S MIX IT UP!!! :D

$Next gig: FLESH RITUALS & SIREN SONGS VI at @moshpit.bar on October 30, Halloween Eve! Only 3 weeks to go! And I am in slightly-panicked full prep mode! If you've been following my Stories/YouTube, you'll be aware I've just recovered from a serious illness and am still on the mend. Long story short, a nasty virus turned into a nastier respiratory infection, caused me to cough so hard they thought I'd cracked a rib, and then a scary blood test result sent me urgently to hospital in the middle of the night for fear of a life-threatening pulmonary embolism!? Thankfully, a CT-scan eventually showed I was clear, and no rib fracture either, but I did have mild "bilateral atelectasis" (lung collapse 😳) and needed a second round of more hardcore antibiotics to finally start to come good. Thank you RNSH for looking after me! So with that and more making for a nuts September, I have been through a LOT! But I'm not letting that stop me! 😤 My voice is slowly coming back and I've actually been prescribed a lot of deep breathing lol, best news as a singer, I just have to do what I always do and I should be good! We're less certain about the pain in my ribs - I'm seeing a physio, but given the state of me, I'm tweaking my choreography just to be safe, and may have a few surprises for you too 😉 so turn up and see what happens! Legit though, @thesoftmachineproductions has put together the most interesting lineup I've ever had the privilege to be a part of, and I'm so appreciative to have this bittersweet chance to play MoshPit one last time before they say goodbye. This is going to be a hectic night as I join the incredible @cheapcoffins and old friends @zcluster0 bringing the music, PLUS a lineup of performance artists of the kind you should check the content warnings for just in case... 🤭 And if you're wondering, yes I'm asexual, yes I'm comfortable with this, I haven't hung out in this world for a very long time but having the courage to go outside my comfort zone is exactly how I became so sure of how I am. Yes of course I'll be performing my Asexuality EP hehe WHY NOT!! 📸 @emma__mees 💙 #industrialmusic #asexuality #moodyphotography #unstoppable #sydneylivemusic by @destroyermariko$

FLESH RITUALS & SIREN SONGS VI - @moshpit.bar , 30 Oct 2026, Gadigal Land

Industrial noises meet chaotic metal vocals and lyrics exploring the human experience. @destroyermariko ‘s unique solo project draws from influences such as Android Lust and Nine Inch nails, and her experiences as the frontwoman of Sydney metal bands @rainbowdeathrayband and Wintergaunt.

She mixes soaring melodies with aggressive, brutal deathgrowls, a combination she now continues to push to its extremes. A mix of theatre and art, and something different and unusual in the local heavy music scene. No AI, 100% old school authenticity.

1 week of Skye! AKA Lukedom Mr Blue Skye!

I'm pleased to report that things are going SO well, Skye settled in fantastically, didn't cry at all, and is just the easiest perfect puppy! I had been a little worried about how Triton might react, but he's been amazing too, and ADORES Skye. They're both so desperate to play together, but Skye is too little and crazy and wiggly right now haha, he needs to grow up a bit first so we've got all the management systems in place for them.

Skye's also already doing so well with his toilet training. There are small accidents of course, including when he proudly looks at me with his front legs on his grass toilet and his back legs... not... 😅 but he has the basic idea! And is now able to take himself to the garden when given access too. He's also already learned to sit, and even copied Triton lying down when he saw I gave out treats for that behaviour haha. Smart little floof!

The trickiest things with training are 1) Triton getting overexcited and just a little jealous of the attention, and 2) training my parents! 😂 They both love Skye, and spend a lot of time with him while I still spend most of my time with Triton. That said, even with Skye being "mum's dog", he's so responsive to me and already seems to have figured out I'm the dog trainer around here haha. Maybe she's born with it, maybe it's the fancy treats in her pocket... lol either way, it's been a fun challenge getting the ball rolling on things like crate training, then explaining the techniques to the family for when I'm not there. I'm also in charge of health and grooming, and he's already had a great first vet visit and been totally okay with me brushing him! I even trimmed two of his little nails! 😮 Fast progress!!

If you'd like to keep up with Skye, he's now got his own playlist on my YouTube channel. For Facebook friends, my private feed is currently 99% floof!

As for everything else, this is going so well I'm already back to some of my shenanigans, so I shan't puppy spam Instagram toooo much... XD

Took me a week to realise I should post this to Meta properly for anyone who missed the Story lol. It IS already on my YouTube but that's a different audience.

Anyway, yeah, stickers! For free! If you bump into me irl. Have already given a few to friends but there's around 100 which is plenty for the amount I don't go out haha.

#stickers #musician #artist #madwoman #selfpromo

P.S. if you're waiting for outfit photos from last night (20/8) I'll try to get onto them sooon but we've been doing a lot of final puppy prep today so I'm out of time, and YES I'll also get you some more puppy content too! The best place for that will be Skye's playlist on my YouTube (or my friends only Fb page if you're on that and didn't get banished to the shadow realm of public only posts for some reason lol...) but I'll also be popping things up in my Stories when I can, and will make a proper post eeeeventuallyyyyyyyy.......

FOR NOW THOUGH, GOODNIGHT!!! PUPPY IS COMING HOME TOMORROWWWW!!! **arm flailing** by @destroyermariko
