Grief is funny.

It’ll destroy you. It’ll help you grow.
It can consume you.
It can harden your heart or it can soften your heart.
You can learn from it how to protect yourself from hurt and loss.
You can learn to appreciate and cherish the smaller moments.

I’ve been through of the twists and turns grief can throw your way.

It’s hard to think it’s been 9 years without you because honestly I didn’t think I would survive one day. It hasn’t been easy but here we are. It’s been nice to see the little glimmers I see that make me think of you. It took awhile but now I can appreciate them without crying.

It’s crazy to think about how much time has passed and how I have been able to watch you grow over the last 17 years. You were the little sister I always wanted.
