This month, like every May, firefly reels are going viral on Instagram. Maharashtra's sensitive firefly population faces a growing threat from unethical tourism during their mating season. This year, more than ever, we're getting to see some disturbing visuals from both, firefly and flamingo sites.

Firefly sites are NOT picnic spots. Leave your campfire, barbecue grill, and guitar at home. I speak with senior trek leader Digvijay Rathore of @mischieftreks , and the Maharashtra Forest Department to decipher what's going wrong.

Today's throwback read. I don't know how many people in Mumbai even realised, but in December last year, the women of Kamathipura presented their art to the world at a festival they built from the ground up.
