Dark Romance has always been a love of mine. Nina Jones was the first author I read in this genre and my brain chemistry was forever changed. The angst, heartbreak, tragedy, rebuilding and hope in these books is infectious. I can only hope I do the genre justice with my debut book 🙂‍↕️ who is a lover of the darker themes in life? by @devauxdarkromance

I’m stuck. I’m drained. I keep thinking “well what if I make them do this…” and proceed to change the entire story 😭 help a girl out! I started diving back into alpha read comments to work out my timeline and came across comments complementing my torture scenes 😌 so that was nice by @devauxdarkromance

Proof of life 💕 you know what’s wild? How quick everything changes. How much pressure social media can have on you. And how wonderful this community can be too. I’ve met great people through this platform and I’m grateful for that! I was stressing at how slow I am writing my book- because for some reason it seems like everyone is writing 6 books a year- and my lovely writers critique group gave me a reality check, that it’s not always real. That there isn’t a timeline. There isn’t a deadline. Create what you want to create and do it on your own timeline. I’m still editing/writing draft 2 of my debut! And also: working full time, mothering full time, picked up cycling and having a blast! Anyway, happy Saturday lovely humans! I am excited to share more with everyone, just on a different speed 😊 by @devauxdarkromance

WIP draft 2 is underway and man have I made some changes! What no one tells you about being a pantser? Your characters ages, locations and sometimes names (Richard) change with no rhyme or reason 🤪 everyone can teleport. No one knows when they were born. And it was a duck not a goose. Curious? Review is in! @kylevauthor debut: Failed Extinction - Death of a System
🌟🌟🌟🌟.75 (4.75/5. A solid 9/10) the cat face is how I felt at the end of the book k thanks

This book elicited more emotion out of me than I thought it would 🥲
Like any sci-fi, the beginning established a lot of characters, worlds, power systems, races, interplanetary dynamics. If you aren’t used to sci-fi, it can feel overwhelming. What I love- Kyle added a glossary at the end! I referenced it quite a bit during the first 1/3 of the book until I felt like I had enough grasp on the different planets/people.

Secrets. Secrets. And more secrets. I LOVE playing detective and trying to figure out what is going on. He lays out a tons of Easter eggs and little hints that something (or someone’s) aren’t what they appear to be. I honestly didn’t fully guess one of the main reveals until the last large clue!

The character writing is fantastic. One author wrote this book but you can feel the different personalities come through so strongly with each character. No two sound alike or act alike. That character differentiation is difficult to do and do it well. Which Kyle kills it with this. I actually love the villain, Selena, she’s ruthless and cold BUT THEN SOMETHING HAPPENS AND I WAS LIKE OH NO SHE MAYBE CARES

Ends with a really heartbreaking scene (I cried 🥲) and cliff hanger and Epilogue (love epilogues) and I can tell book 2 is going to get into it.

And anyone who has trouble writing fight scenes (aka me) y’all need to reference his fight scenes. Chaotic and stressful but with such purpose. A fluid, moving scene every time there is conflict. by @devauxdarkromance

As requested: the chill cabin boudoir session I did with photographer Jennifer from @unhinged.photography.htx We did this shoot back in 2024! I had just finished reading “Take me With You” by Nina Jones (IYKYK 👀) and she had a cabin set for previous shoots still up! So I said yes…let’s do it! I was feeling self conscious after having my child and this was a way to bring back that confidence I used to have and do something fun. She brought the vision to life, hyped me up so I felt great about myself 🥹 and gave me these amazing pictures to have forever. Set design, photography and edits all from Jennifer! We are also going to work on a real life mood board for my book 👀👀👀👀 so you definitely want to stay tuned for that! by @devauxdarkromance

Ok yall. I finished this ARC in under 24 hours. I was ADDICTED to the story of Tarek and Madison! And @ana.cole.author knows how to write tension and cliff hangers and stressful af scenes 😂 I tried to take one of those little “reading vlog” videos and happened to be on chapter 24 and got so stressed about our MMC and his choices and scared for what was going to happen! Highly recommend for any dark romance lovers. And the spice?! On point 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ no notes. The ending? So hot. I giggled and told my husband and he was like “Oohh what?! 🤭” anyway- yall need to check it out and then get in my DMs so I can commiserate and shout with you! by @devauxdarkromance
