The viaduct at Penruddock.

Penruddock is a village in what was the county of Westmorland in the north of the English Lake District.
The viaduct is on the route of the Cockermouth, Keswick and Penrith railway which opened in 1864 and was closed in 1972.

Edwardian Baroque being harassed by Jenga.
The old 1906 London Road Fire Station in Manchester.
I read that, at least, after many years of dereliction, it is now being renovated for reuse. I hope.
I have a vague memory of, as a small child in the 1950s, visiting the fire station when it still housed WW2-era open-cab appliances. taken in Manchester by @developingsituation

The River Mersey at the King Street West bridge, just downstream from Stockport town centre.
I don’t think the then poor water quality would have permitted this reflective mood when I was growing up in the town in the 1950/60s.
Also, as evidenced by the map in the second image, access to this riverside viewpoint would not have been possible back then.

Felix Nussbaum Haus, Osnabrück, Germany.
(1st of 2 posts)

paintings by Felix Nussbaum (1904-1944), except for number 17 which is by Felka Platek (1899-1944).
Both artists murdered at Auschwitz.

The museum was designed by Daniel Libeskind and opened in 1998.

The Old Forge, Holne, Devon
35mm B&W film, late 1970s / early 80s?

The first image, my own photograph, surfaced when I was recently scanning old negatives. At first, though I could tell it was somewhere in southwest England, I couldn’t remember the precise location.
Then, sorting through a jumble of accumulated old postcards, I found the second image, a photographic postcard, which answered the question.

The property operated as both a petrol station and a tea room so it’s likely that I bought the postcard there. The proprietors presumably thought including the fuel pumps in their photo would lower the tone!
Holne is a small village in the Dartmoor area of Devon, England.

The third, Google Earth, image is how the property evidently appears now; looking like it’s been like that forever!
In 1977, the villagers published a book entitled ‘A History of Holne.’ I have tried to obtain a copy but without success. If anyone has a copy that they are prepared to sell me, for a not-princely sum, please send a message!
