I’m looking forward to opening ‘Fenestra Falsa,’ my upcoming solo show at OS Projects in Racine, WI. The show gives me a chance to bring out much of the work I made during my fall 2025 residencies @macdowell1907 in NH and @doramaarculturalcenter in Ménerbes, FR. Sending gratitude to both for those generous fellowships. The show opens on Saturday, August 8 from 1–3 PM and continues until October 10, 2026. I would love to see you there if you find yourself in the area. Show link in bio. Many thanks to Vera and Rob for inviting me and hosting the exhibition.Lattice Revel, 2026, acrylic and spray enamel on canvas, 48 x 28 inchesTrestle Fold, 2025, acrylic and spray enamel on canvas, 48 x 28 inchesCinder Sky, 2025, spray enamel on Yupo paper, 18 x 13 inches#osprojects @macdowell1907 @doramaarculturalcenter by @devening_projects

We have a couple more weeks in the gallery to enjoy the current solo shows by Larissa Borteh and Alain Bitlereyst. While we’re up in Door County meeting new folks @doorcountycontemporary, the gallery will be open from 12 - 5PM today. The shows close on June 13th; come by if you haven’t already checked out these two beautiful installations of recent paintings, we’d love to see you. As @jyauwriter said about Larissa’s work in his recent review in Hyperallergic, “The spectrum between legibility and opacity is the crux of Borteh’s paintings. We look at the world and instinctively name what we see based on our experience, and we are not always correct.”@larissaborteh @albilt @jyauwriter by @devening_projects

Had the privilege of previewing the @theobamapresidentialcenter with @cushionchicago and @zanderraymond. Still processing. The @markbradfordart and @nickcaveart were stunning. The Martin Puryear located near the Chicago Public Library entrance in the courtyard was weirdly underscaled and underwhelming. The grounds/gardens are lovely. by @devening_projects

We’re anticipating another great weekend in Door County, Wisconsin in June for the second iteration of @doorcountycontemporary. The fair will take place at the Peninsula School of Art in Fish Creek, Wisconsin, from June 4–7, 2026. In 2025, Door County Contemporary was launched to bring a healthy dose of contemporary art to a region already rich in culture and creative art practice. Last year was a blast @doorcountycontemporary; we’re looking forward to sharing some exciting new work and meeting more folks interested in energetic and rigorous presentations from some of the region’s best galleries. This year’s fair will feature 24 exhibitors from the Midwest and New York. This year we’re featuring paintings from Guzzo Pinc and Andrew Zarou and cast stoneware and aluminum sculptures from Paul Erschen. We would love to see you there!@guzzopinc @paulspasture @onward_azure @doorcountycontemporary @penartdc by @devening_projects

Belgian artist Alain Biltereyst is well known for the intimately scaled paintings on wood panels inspired by advertising designs and brand logos. He’s also recognized for both larger paintings and wall works distilled from many of the same sources that drive the small works. Here is a selection of those murals from past exhibitions. ‘Great Moments,’ Alain’s current solo show @devening_projects continues until June 13. We have gallery hours on Saturday from 11 – 5PM. We’re also participating the Garfield Park Artist Collective Open Studios in the 3039 West Carroll Avenue and 319 North Albany Buildings so it would be a great day to stop by.@albilt @garfieldparkartistcollective @larissaborteh by @devening_projects

Another heart-stopper from ‘In the Wind,’ Larrisa Borteh’s current solo show @devening_projects. The exhibition includes a series of recent paintings whose gestural energy pulses through the installation. From the press release for the show: “In the Wind takes its title from a sensation that is both literal and metaphysical. Borteh describes riding her bicycle into a headwind — the effort of simply moving forward against invisible resistance. This image concentrates everything the paintings are about: daily life experienced as constant negotiation with forces that do not yield. Forms are thrust together or torn from their moorings entirely. What might begin as visual clues to the familiar quickly dissolve into the space around them, distressed by change, uncertain of their own coherence. At the center of this work lies gesture — not simply as a formal strategy, but as a primal impulse to express through pressure, trajectory and movement. This impulse unfolds in the many ways the body articulates its most salient actions: through running, falling, sinking, collapsing, and, in turn, through recovery and ascension. These states do not exist in isolation; they coexist within a space of uneasy suspension, where motion is both continuous and unresolved. Underpinning it all is a sense of polarity, as well as the act of recalling the body’s visceral passage through time and space — a fragile thread that holds these shifting experiences together.”Larrissa Borteh, Blip, 2026, oil on canvas, 30 x 40 inchesGallery hours today from 12-5pm@larissaborteh by @devening_projects

We love seeing where work acquired from the gallery finds a permanent home. Here’s a beautiful large Alain Biltereyst painting from 2016 featured this month in New York Magazine. The home is in Connecticut and owned by two artists formerly from Chicago. ‘Great Moments,’ Alain’s current show @devening_projects continues until June 13th. We’ll be in the gallery on Saturday from 12 - 5pm. Come by to see the show and Larrisa Borteh’s beautiful installation of recent paintings in ‘In the Wind.’Alain Biltereyst, Untitled, 2016, acrylic on wood panel, 62.5 x 45.25 inches@albilt @larissaborteh @nymag by @devening_projects
