polaroid emulsion lift on watercolour paper 15 x 20cm (2020). made using an image of a green bandhani sari that belongs to my mother.

During a photography workshop with Rhiannon Adam in 2018, learning the technique of emulsion lifting, I first began to consider the influences shaping my subconscious. Watching the Polaroid emulsion drift and fold in water reminded me of a delicate chiffon sari. compelling me to pull out pieces from my mother’s archive as a stimulus for my practice. by @devikakumarichadha
