SONG IN 60 SECONDS

A short-form Bellingham-based showcase highlighting artists from our rare shared scene with uncut interviews and unplugged performances.

EPISODE THREE - Devin Champlin

Devin Champlin's recordings, both solo and as the songwriter/frontman for @sonsofrainier, have found their way into the permanent library of hobos, widows, fry cooks, and fancy pants alike. As an artist with a DIY aesthetic, he uses songwriting as a medium to create imagery. Along those lines he also produces animations, videos, paintings, drawings, and prints in tandem with his musical output. When not nerding out on songcraft and art, Devin can be found at his day job: running a brick-and-mortar shop in Bellingham pulling guitars apart and putting them back together.

See you there!!!

Devin Champlin is a songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and visual artist based in Bellingham, WA. His recordings, solo and as the songwriter/frontman for Sons Of Rainier have found their way into the permanent library of hobos, widows, fry cooks, and fancy pants alike. Intimate lyrics filled with optimistic existentialism are unhurriedly floated with a wavering baritone voice over sometimes unexpected fingerpicked guitar lines. As an artist with a DIY aesthetic, he uses songwriting as a medium to create imagery- along those lines he also produces animations, videos, paintings, drawings, and prints in tandem with his musical output. In addition to writing and performing, Devin often teaches workshops on fingerpicking guitar, songwriting, and fiddle. When not nerding out on songcraft and art, Devin can be found at his day job, running a brick and mortar guitar shop in Bellingham, pulling guitars apart and putting them back together. taken in Pissers Palace by @devin_champlin_

There’s a lot of pancakes in this world but there’s none like the ones upon your plate. They’re best fresh so eat em up while they’re hot.

I’m gonna find out all about Montana’s cake situation next month. I’m coming out to play a few shows and then spend some quiet creative time during a residency with @dearbutte

If you’re nearby any of these places, cmon out and hear some songs, and say hello.

An evening of singer songwriters at @oddfellowstempleroom

Thursday August 13th

Dream gig alert.

I am honored to play in one of the most beautiful listening rooms, with some of Bellingham's finest songwriters, Devin Champlin, Anna Arvan, and Jonny McIntyre. Each of these folks have inspired me at some point with their distinct voice and knack for intimate songs and storytelling.

7pm // 21+ // $10

Please come spend your evening with us.

New day. New album. New shirt. New shows.

We made a record and will release it into the digital world Sunday August 2. I also made these shirts on my kitchen table. All merch stuff will only be available in person at our shows coming up for the next couple weeks. After that I’ll post about how to order stuff online.

I’m so grateful for the fleeting moments that this band gets to exist in the world. Hope to see you out there.

Coming up at The Shakedown! Fully stoked to present Sir Richard Bishop live with support from Devin Champlin and Elise Poirier. SRB has an amazing new single out now that I have been listening to over and over.
My favorite venue in Seattle was (and kinda is) The Josephene. Its a DIY warehouse type venue started by Sun City Girls/ Sir Richard Bishop. I learned about caroliner rainbow band there, I learned how to throw shows with 15 bands there, I learned that DIY music is a lifestyle and a family. Thanks SRB! taken in The Shakedown by @devin_champlin_

I’m working up a few animations along with other video “art” for my upcoming show at the shakedown with the legendary Sir Richard Bishop and Elise Poirier. Feeling very honored to be on this bill! I’ll be playing a somewhat improvised set of instrumental music and am looking forward to stretching out a bit.
