"Mausoleo di Vetro"

(Dedicated to all those waiting in liquid nitrogen)

[Verse 1]
In the canal’s drifting haze
Shines an island like an altar raised
Only glass upon the sea
Breathing every word we left behind, still free

[Chorus]
Mausoleum of glass
You can see straight through the heart
Every crack holds a memory
Every shadow, a love from the past
If you brush these silent walls
You become who you once used to be
But if a single tear should fall
All the world could shatter at sea

[Verse 2]
Beneath flashes of a passing light
My remorse rows slowly through the night
I hear the steps of those long gone
Walking here beside me
Reflections trailing through these blue walls

[Chorus]
Mausoleum of glass
You can see straight through the heart
Every crack holds a memory
Every shadow, a love from the past
If you brush these silent walls
You become who you once used to be
But if a single tear should fall
All the world could shatter at sea

[Bridge]
And if the tide begins to rise (oh)
And if this city fades away
We will stay within these crystals
Two breaths
A photograph in place

[Chorus]
Mausoleum of glass
You keep all these vows inside
Among the mouths that speak no more
I still hear your city alive
If you brush these silent walls
You become who you once used to be
As long as one light still remains
We will never cease to be by @devinneko

I always end up back in Catholic church for the queerest reasons. My grandmother told me years ago that nobody has ever burst into flames just by walking into a church. Despite my opposition to organized religion, I was baptized Catholic, just like Madonna. Before my folks divorced, I enjoyed seeing the figure sculptures and opulent stained glass windows during mass.

The director Vicky spotted Bark and Devin at dinner the other night, and so the furries were formally invited to see a small, local production of Cats! The players were so excited to see us from the greenroom, and the feeling was mutual! Vicky must have had some connections because this was one of only seven productions of Cats that were allowed to perform the musical this year. Despite the very small venue, the production was top notch, the costuming, the choreography, the singing and acting were marvelous. I often wonder if I will look like Grisabella when I'm an old woman, I will have to commission a grey ears and tail.

I truly love making friends with my elders, for I really enjoy hearing their life stories. Vicky told me years ago she was running a production of Rocky Horror Picture Show and one night she had the cast do a few numbers from Cats over on Palm Beach Island to benefit and raise money to care for strays. That is why she had so many feline costumes ready to go for this show.

Vicky didn't know that I was an art model, but she told me about a production of Hair where she had hired models from The Armory to dance in the protest scene, because artists' models are comfortable with our nude bodies. This was years ago before I worked at The Armory, or I would have loved to be part of that play. I come from an artsy yankee city where I saw many shows as a child, ballets, operas, symphonies, and plays, including Hair. I was only five, so for many years, I thought that I had seen Jesus Christ Superstar, because they had a hippie Jesus crucified on a chainlink fence. I was front row and center when I saw Hair. The players covered me with confetti and gave me a huge blue balloon to take home. Perhaps that is the moment when I was radicalized.

"Paralleli"

Dedicated to Justin Lazzara

[Verse]
Who are we?
Where do we come from?
And where are we going?
I don't know
Who are we?
Where do we come from?
And where are we going?
I do not know

[Pre-Chorus]
Who do I ask
About my tomorrow?

[Chorus]
We live in the time
That passes between disaster and miracle
A parallel dream
We live in the time
That passes between disaster and miracle
A parallel dream

[Bridge]
We live in the time
We live in the time
[whispered vocals] We live in the time
We live in the time

[Verse 2]
I am
I am
I am
I am the time
That passes between disaster and miracle
A parallel dream

[Chorus]
I am the time
That passes between disaster and miracle
A parallel dream
I am the time
That passes between disaster and miracle
A parallel dream by @devinneko
