Native plant highlights-
after the downpour of rain this morning the Mt. Rainier pleated gentian (or bog gentian) in my front yard is blooming. I'm looking to collect seeds or divide this perennial to expand it. Also a lonely Douglas aster I found growing in the sandy shoals near Steveston! by @devinofthegreen

some native plant highlights over the past few weeks. a bumblebee sleeping in a cluster of western phacelia, summer's first sunflower! an evening primrose that survives the constant assault of line trimming, and labrador tea (rhododendron groenlandicum) in it's preferred boggy habitat near the whistler region by @devinofthegreen

I've been super excited to share this with ya'll, my recent findings while camping on the sunshine coast. i even said to @decayingbug that finding this would make our trip that much better. and behold! i reached another personal botanical milestone - found it! the elusive ghost pipe (Monotropa uniflora). by @devinofthegreen

the first Eschscholzia californica (california poppy) bloom in my yard. these loops were taken the same day, first at 9am in sunny conditions and then 9pm in the rain. this is a cool example of phenomena in plants known as 'phototropism' by @devinofthegreen

wow! can you believe it's already been 1 whole year since i stumbled upon & began stewarding this little ol' guerrilla garden? i have learned so much in the garden this year simply by doing and trying new things. enjoy this time-lapse footage from last year! 🌲 by @devinofthegreen
